IN A CLOSE FIGHT, most of the time its gonna go to the champ. And if a fight is that close, other factors come into play, such as ring generalship, the aggressor, etc... But, to be fair, lets ask a fair question. Again which rounds did marquez win "DECISIVELY"???
you score the round how you see fit, no other factors should come into play all this "you have to take the champs title " is bull**** in the fir place but to use that in a fight of this importance ...........i mean come on who gives a flying **** that the WBO welterweight title was on the line it was manny-marquez
I agree it shouldnt matter, but it's always been like that. I had 3-4 rounds decisively to Marquez. All of them were mid rounds i think.
But in a fight like this the title is meaningless, would have been just as big even if it was strapless If by title people actually mean top rank - money generator then fine but its still no reason to give a round one way or the other
3,6,9,12 - Manny's biggest rds 1,4,8,10 - Manny did more, JMM nothing. Those 8 rds did it. Thru 7 Manny landed 94-71 Won 1,3,4,6 at the least.
Before anyone shoots me down,I know it doesn't come into scoring, but ring generalship should take into account who is fighting their type of fight. If a renowned counterpuncher is landing and restricting the style of a come-forward puncher,I feel that should come into the thinking when a round is close.I think the reason I keep scoring the fight widely for JMM is that he's the one who seems to be successful in fighting his own type of fight, while Manny looks as if he can't get going and is being nullified.Just an opinion.
Even those who said Marquez won have different rounds they give Marquez to. Look at the scorecard thread.
