Not many can decide on which rounds were decisive and many Marquez fans give the close rounds to either fighter depending on who you ask. For this reason alone this fight wasn't a robbery, in the judges eyes Pacquiao edged more of the closer rounds than Marquez fans/ Floyd fanatics would like to give Pacquiao credit for. Pac edged the fight. Get over it esb.
Fair point man. :good However, boxing being a show business first, and a scientific sport much much later--the aggressive, attacking, and action-initiating party often gets the favor. Those types are always bankable and tv-friendly. In a capitalism and consumer-based society, commerce often precedes art. Sad reality.
I give Marquez definitively 4-11 with maybe one or two of those rounds being even or going to Pacquiao. The absolute best a scorer looking to give Pacquiao rounds can do is give him one of those rounds, also give him all of the first three rounds (which were very close), and the last two, for a draw. That's being extremely generous. I guess an extra round would give him a win but if that's considered justifiable by the boxing community then a vast majority of fights in history are open to subjective revision. People scoring different rounds for Marquez and so many still having him win says more about how easy it was to give him rounds and how hard it was to give Pac rounds than it does for how close the fight was.
here's how i have it currently: pac rounds: 1, 3, 6 (clear), 9, 10, and 12 jmm rounds: 2, 5 (clear), 8, and 11 even rounds: 4 and 7 4, 7, and 9 to me are the toughest to score
There was possibly one even round in that fight. Marquez won that fight, *******s can keep watching the tape over and over again to convince themselves to give a round to pac, but the world knows the truth and more importantly so does pac.
i laid out how i honestly scored it and open to discussions and opinion from others. seeing as how many rounds are that close and can go either way, my scores are not by any means final. this is not me convincing anyone. maybe it's you who's doing that.
Why would i need to convince anyone when the majority of boxing fans and boxing professionals around the world believe that marquez won that fight. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just so happens the majority of opinions suggest a marquez win. It is what it is.
because you are the one so adamant and decisive that whatever the majority at the time felt, that is the correct and absolute assessment. i went about on scoring it for myself and do not want to be just swayed by gut feel or hairs raising at the back of my neck and much less, other people's opinions. i've been honest here right after the fight that at the time i felt jmm won the fight and that i had to rewatch it. professional judges scored the fight, even them are not absolute. i rewatched it and scored it. it's a personal scorecard. if i'm wrong at anything particular, i'm open to be corrected.
