Actually, no. It's not that bad. There are several interesting matchups to be made. It a marked improvement over three or four years ago.

Exactly. I was once a borderline Haye fan and I have watched his past 5 fights. If he fights Harrison no chance I'll ever watch him again.

The heavyweight division has looked much better recently. Not quite A quality, but not as bad as before.

Its not as bleak as many posters are implying. One important trend is the gradual disappearance, underway, of obese, low skilled HWs from the top rankings, replaced by in shape more skilled, more mobile fighters. On the negative side, too many fighters are still being micromanaged and avoiding the best, most competitive match ups, in hopes of landing bigger pay cheques down the road.

This is true, the scrubs have been getting weeded out, that certainly is one part of curing the heavyweight division. But we haven't seen any up and coming legitimate, proven contenders. Haye could have proved himself a potentially good fighter, but he ended up being a ***** like the rest. Where's the upcoming talent in the Heavies?

Adamek and Povetkin as far as I see it. Both are not extraordinarily skillful but do most things very well and out of the two Adamek is the better tested fighter and my pick at giving Klitschkos a more competitive fight than we've seen. Besides this, theres potentially great match ups to be made between Adamek, Povetkin and Haye, but I agree DH is currently wasting his prime (both, by being terribly inactive and picking less than stellar opposition). Also, many people see the HW bleaker than it really is because of the dearth of top US HWs and therefore crappier, less motivated US tv coverage.

100% true. There are some good fighters in the division but sadly they won't agree to fight each other. Are you listening David Haye?

    Haye is fighting Harrison :-(
    Adamek is fighting Grant :-(
    Tua is fighting Barret :-(

and the thing is, their die hard fans (and i consider myself an adamek fan, not die hard but def a fan) sit there defending these fights.... seemingly oblivious to the fact that boxing is bigger then their favorite fighter, and that these are EXACTLY the things that is wrong with boxing, them included, despite all the reasons and excuses they continue to give (valid or not - example, tuas stupid ass tv contract, is a valid excuse to why he continues to fight relative nobodies, doesnt mean that its not part of the problem)

There are times in a fighters career where they should be taking on the monte's, grants, and audleys of the world, and haye, adamek, nor tua are in those positions....

yet try telling that to their die hards and its like talking to a brick wall. And i dont mean that with disrespect because i like a lot of you and most of you guys are great posters, but it seems that with haye, oh well boxing isnt a sport anymore its a buisness and hes just doing what makes sense :patsch

Adamek, well nobody else in the whole division can or will fight adamek, and grant is an excellent stay busy fight

    Tua
    Dimitrenko
    Povetkin

the list goes on and on and on.... all have their list of reasons and excuses why their not fighting the fights that should be made. Are some of them legit? YES... i understand that, but this isnt just a case of a division slowing down while some fighters take easy touches or whatnot and it will heat up again soon, this is a HABITUAL and CONSTANT affliction within this division, where all the fights that should be happening ARENT.

What people fail to see is that they would actually get more big money if they stepped out of their comfort zone and put on big fights, and there would BE more big fights realised that wouldnt be before, if more of these guys fought eachother. The reason there are no 'big names' outside the usual suspects in heavyweight is because nobody is going out there and making one for themselves.

Everyone shits on Arreola for his condition, but you know what, at least that man has the balls to fight anyone, anywhere, any time... none of this bull**** that has infected the heavyweight division and in some sense boxing in general. Wlad and Vitali are the other two that seem ready to fight anyone.

The division has potential, but the usual politics is as always, killing it.

Gotta say I agree. Arreola is always willing to go to war(even if the lazy ****er is never ready).

As for Adamek.... I still think he is a small HW. He's got the skills, but not the power to take the kbros on. Skill counts for a lot, but Arreola legitimately staggered him a few times in that fight.
