A serious ****in' mess! Shogun gets beat by Griffin. and griffin already got beat by Jardine and Ortiz (and horn and servern but that was back in 2003 and 2001). What's ****ed up is that Shogun already beat Jackson (ufc's champ) in the first via KO. But i don't think it's gonna make much of a difference afterall.. because hendo also koed wanderlei...that alone...was enough to kill the rankings. wanderlei holds 2 victories vs Jackson. It's all messed up. If you look back at shogun's record...you'll noticed that he lost against Sobral. and guess what? Sobral was once totally owned by Randleman. and randleman lost against shogun when you look at everyone's career records...it makes little sense. but then again , we all know that mmath is bull**** anyway. the only exceptions i can think of are fedor (if we don't count his lost vs TK). & kid Yamamoto (bull**** loss , because of a cut... same as fedor) Another guy who seems consistant is Houston Alexander. He hasn't lost since 2001. He hasn't been active at all in 2002 and 2006 though. He only fought once in 2003 once in 2004 and 2005... He's got 4 wins in 2007.
Houston Alexander seems like a guy to look out for. That guy is a mean dude and is like a pit bull on roids in the octagon. I don't believe ive seen anyone that effectively aggressive with his fists in the UFC for a while. He would give anyone willing to stand up and strike a run for their money. However, not sure how he would do against someone who is more well balanced and would attempt to take him to the ground. That division is really competitive right now. No one has a perfect record and rightfully so... I think it all varies on styles. one guy may do great against one other, but may loose to the guy who lost against the guy he just beat.
Rampage is king. After that, I don't even want to talk about it Rampage is hurt and can't fight for 6 months so that buys them some time. Right now the guys they can push for a title are: Wanderlei Forrest Jardine Houston Alexander Machida Machida, well he needs some more time I think. Skill wise he is ready, but he has been plagued by criticism for not finishing opponents, and when they finally decide to give him a fight to showcase his ability they put him against the toughest LHW in the world to finish in Nakamura. Machida had his way with him but still couldn't put him away, which isn't surprising because only Wandy (after Nakamura stopped to take his gi off) and 275 pound Josh Barnett have done it. So I would like to propose: Wandy/Houston Alexander Forrest/Jardine II If, however, we really still want to see the Wandy/Chuck fight we could do: Machida/Houston Alexander Forrest/Jardine II Winner faces winner and we have the number one UFC contendor. Also gives them time to rebuild Shogun, and possibly bring in Sokodjou who still is unsigned after EliteXC backed out of their contract.
I think Rampage is now the man. Not really because of what he's done himself but all the rest of the competition are eliminating themselves. Nobody seems to be able to put a run of victories together. Plus Rampage looked like one of those guys who holding a belt makes them improve massivley. But, hey, why all the complaining?? I think the LW division is the most intersting right now. Anyone seems to be able to beat anyone so there will be a lot of twists and turns in this division over the net couple of years. That's good right??
His very very raw and rough around the edges.I dont think he has what it takes to be a dominant champ but it would certainly be exciting.
I believe Tko4 is right by process of elimination. Alexander beat Jardine. Jardine beat Griffin and Liddell. Griffin beat Shogun. Alexander should get a shot, and you can aurgue Jarine as well. Griffin would be 3rd in line. I think Liddell and Shogun should fight with the winner being next to fight a top 3 guy for an elimination bout.
Its ****ing crazy you really have no idea whos fighting each other next expect we know Tito and Rashad will be doing it agian hopefully we get a impressive winner from that fight but after thats its like ? Is Liddell retiring ? Wanderlei is fighting in December but coming off 2 brutal KO losses what does he have left ? Id enjoy a Henderson trilogy at the December PPV. Shogun obviously isnt done but where does he go to next ? Forrest and Jardine should they fight each other agian or should Jardine try to avenge the Houston Alexander loss or does Alexander deserve a title shot right now as he is the consitent guy in the divison. Then you got Machida whos easily beaten everyone he faces but how marketable is the guy ? I dont know its ****ing crazy in a dream world Rampage would be injured for a year and all of these guys would just do a tourney and the winner faces him.
I dont even know if you can say that. Yes Shogun looked horrible, yes Wandy has been beaten badly twice in a row, yet these guys soundly beat Rampage twice. Rampage is the champ now, so I agree we have to rank him #1, but after that, woah.
it's a mess really. and that is the problem with the ufc. everybody beats everybody else so we really don't know who the man in lhw is.
