What kind of threads were appearing?

    Pro Lewis or pro Klitshcko?

Its just that often, close, controversial fights like this one are sensationalised for a couple of weeks, and then it seems like there is a consensus agreement on who won, and whether they deserved the win or not, makes no difference.

Take, for example, Cotto-Mosley. At the time, it was all ''Mosley was robbed'' etc, then a month or so on, its just ''Cotto beat Mosley, end of story''

Obviously this is going back a few years, so to all you ESB veterans, relive it for me.:good

The web site was so busy it was hard to log on to after the fight. There were three types of posts.

1 ) Those who said Lewis won via cuts stoppage.

2 ) Those who felt Vitali was the better and would have won if the fight was not stopped.

3 ) A small minority just thought it was good match.

While the fight is history, the fact that Lewis said he would give a re-match and had over $15,000,000.00 on the table for a re-match then balked is also history. This to me signlas that Lewis felt he wasn't going to win the re-match.

Lewis won the fight. Vitlai won the event and answered the critics who felt he lacked heart.

I believe the site was somehwat divided, each side claiming victory for their resp. fighter, in Klitschkos case of course the moral victory.

Theres always been an enormously strong Lewis fan base on here, for mysterious reasons. :think

    Then why didn't he?

We're not talking about a mythical match-up here. This fight actually happened. Vitali had his chance against the heaviest, slowest and oldest (obviously) Lennox ever to step in the ring, and he failed.

I believe Vitali would have won the rematch by the way, simply because Lennox proved how far he had slipped in this fight. Although a victory in either fight wouldn't prove Vitali was better than Lennox, only that he was better than a faded Lennox, or an even more faded Lennox. Which is why I don't think there was an need for a rematch for EITHER fighter.

If Vitali wanted to prove he was better than Lennox, he should have tried to unify the titles and achieve more than Lennox achieved. As the golf saying goes, "beating Tiger Woods doesn't make you Tiger Woods". Only winning more titles than Tiger makes you better than Tiger.

Onto the topic, the board was overwhelmingly pro-Vitali immediately after the fight. This is always the case when a fighter is stopped and then acts like he wanted to continue. He gets the sympathy vote and the fans vent their anger at the winner because they wanted the fight to go on, even though he wasn't the one who chose to stop it.

one of the things stated by Klitschko fans afterwards was "klitschko retired Lewis", relating to the fact lewis never wanted to face him a second time....

I dont get what the controversy surrounding this match is. Sure maybe Vitali was winning the match, but you dont win the match by taking the majority of 6 rounds in a championship fight. As it stands, Lewis wins via stoppage on cuts, no controversy needed for that.
