Lewis won the fight, Vitali won the event. Boxing fans were treated to a great slugfest, but robbed of the rematch.
Vitali Would of gottem in the 7th End of lewis won tko ripped the mans face apart and was on his way to koing him :good This **** is going to kick off again now :yep
Lewis did a lot of damage but we'll never know how the fight would have ended. Lewis should have fought him again, and still should.
Lewis hasnt fought in 5 years and was on the slide back then atsch add the fact he is nearly 43 y/o what would thew point be ??????????????
That fight showed what nuthuggery can do to the mind. Vitali had his face brutalized to the point that if it had not been stopped when it was chances are his eyesight could have been damaged for life. His eyelid alone took 57 stitches. It was hanging by a thread. The damage done to his face was some of the worst in boxing history (anyone have a photo to show?) Vital was hanging on for dear life the last 20 seconds of round 6. When the fight was stopped before the bell sounded for round 7 Vitali at first did not show much emotion, that is until Wlad jumped over and whispered in his ear. Then Vitali went nuts screaming the fight should not have been stopped. It was a pathetic sight seeing that eyelid danglng off his face. Of course the nuthuggers came out in droves posting the fight should not have been stopped, the damage wasn't severe. Wasn't severe??? 57 stitches in an eyelid and 20 some stitches in other parts of his face and the damage wasn't severe. Even after the newspapers interviewed the medical specialists and the public were informed that if the fight would have continued his eyesight could have been permanently damaged the nuthuggers said what do they know, I've seen worse. I haven't. Nuthuggers are in a world of their own. They still think Vitali could beat Ali, Foreman and Holmes all in the same night. And yet it was even reported that when Vitali was getting in shape for one of his many attempted comebacks he was knocked down a couple of times by his sparring partners. Yeah, the nuthuggers were in ful force showing their ignorance of the sport.
VITLAY can't even get through a training camp confident of beating Rahman for ****s sake Lets not forget he got KD'd by Sanders when they fought too. The only fight VITLAY will be remembered for is the only big fight he had, and he lost. Just checked Boxrec, yep it still says Lewis TKO6 :smoke
That was always a funny one too, the only man to ever retire a champion by bleeding on him :rofl :rofl
Actually, I checked Lewis's record two minutes ago and it said something rather different- 2003-06-21 Great Shape Vitali Klitschko 248 32-1 (not really a loss)-0 Staples Center, Los Angeles, California, United States W "TKO" 6 Match L "TKO"Fan's Decision 6 The event This content is protected ~ time: 3:00 | referee: Lou Moret (Black) | 56-58 | 56-58 | 56-58 ~ ~ WBC heavyweight title ~ ~ IBO heavyweight title ~ Fight stopped by the BLACK referee due to a Klitschko graze.
Whatever you think about the fight the fact is there has not been a Heavyweight fight as exciting and entertaining with drama like it since. That fight was almost 5 years ago believe it or not. I thought for sure there was going to be a rematch...............
They need to get their facts straight!:fire:twisted::fire It should say... "Fight stopped PREMATURELY by the BLACK referee, Vitali declared "People's Champion" due to Lewis sitting down on his stool very hard. Very hard indeed. And Vitali s-s-saw ev-every one punch."
There was no re-match. Lewis was dead tired at the end of round 6, and down 4-2 on all cards, which means he has to win 4 of the next six rounds to get a draw! The fight was abruptly stopped by the ring doctor who had next to no communication with Vitali's corner. After the fight was stopped, we saw how much energy Vitlai had left. If the fight had gone on, I think Vitlai gets the TKO. But as it was it was stopped on cuts. Ok, Lewis gets the win, but where is the re-match??? Guys like Drexel and Kaygb hate Vitlai with an unhealthy passion, but the truth is there was no re-match because Lewis was lucky to catch Vitlai preping for a 10 round fight vs a nobody, then taking this fight on short notice. If Vitlai had known it was Lewis all along, he trains much harder. By the way, Lewis fought dirty in that fight. He tackled Vitlai, landed on him, and hit and held. Lewis also used the top of his head in clinches on Vitlai’s face, which is very visible on the films.
