The fact that there was no rematch tells me all I need to know. Lennox had all of Vitali that he wanted.
Lennox had a 15-18 million-dollar offer for the re-match. Heck, I'd enter a boxing ring vs any man alive and most animals for that type of money.
Total riot indeed, that's when I first registered here, boy those days were the best. The majority were pro-Klitschko(myself included) but there were many pro-Lewis as well so the threads were endless.
Well I used to think Vitali would've gotten him as well but as I watched the fight more and more I realised it's impossible. BOTH men were tired, BOTH took many punches but Lewis could still see and wasn't busted up brutally like Vitali so he had a huge advantage there and if they didn't stop it then Lewis would've stopped Vitali. As all say it, Lewis won the fight, Vitali won the event. A rematch would've been nice but still those cuts happened from PUNCHES so I don't/can't really blame Lewis for not having the motivation to sign a rematch, he already wasn't in great shape for the first fight anyway considering it was Kirk Johnson he trained for.
By event I mean the support from the fans/cheers which was obvious as was Lewis' victory. Don't get your periods on me now.
I like both fighters and was a hell of a fight for sure. The Heavyweight Division has pretty much been garbage since.
Great fight! I thought it proved how great both fighters were... Lennox, semi-out of shape and at an age where almost every ATG is worthless was taking on a prime, underrated fighter and finished him on cuts. Vitali, who some questioned as a euro bum and said he had no heart proved he had immense skill and heart and was able to still be effective with half is face hanging off. Great fight. Great fighters.
You wanna hear funny? Listen to Vitali when the fight is stopped...."Arrrgaaargh! Neyyaaaah Noooogha! Arrrrgh...." Running around pouning his fist and then it's priceless when he pushes lennox!
You mean you never watched WALD V Sultan? That was apparently the masterclass to end all masterclasses.
