Well he went all 3 rounds with Hamil on Saturday. Gotta pay more attention there pal, thats the best ive seen since a few weeks back a guy said he cant even begin to remember the last time Couture submitted someone (he choked Coleman 5 months ago) :yep
Thanks I was trying to avoid that result.... I still havent watched that show.. Couture has not evelved with the sport, he can wrestle but thats not enough anymore.
Thats not true at all. Very VERY rarely is a guy going to just completely change his fighting style. Randy is a wrestler and at the end of the day that is what he plans to use to win fights but to say hasnt involved is crazy talk. Randy in his early years was getting tapped all over Japan now hes defending chokes from Nogueira and occassionally when he needs to he will finish a guy via choke Coleman, Van Asrdale. Randy early on his whole standup game was based on throwing looping punches to get in and try some dirty boxing now he will throw some leg kicks, put together some decent hand combos, alittle head movement. Randy has worked hard to improve his striking and his jiujitsu now obviously hes no Anderson Silva or Jacare in those areas but its pretty damn clear hes drastically improved those areas especially in comparasion to other guys from his era like Coleman, Shamrock, Frye, Gracie's or even Chuck guys who never changed there game at all. Even hes conditoning hes improved look at say the Barnett and Ricco fights he gassed alittle fast forward to his more recent Heavyweight fights hes looking a bit more trim, alittle quicker and the stamina is much better if he fatigues alittle he recovers quickly. Not evolving would be to never change things and never improve in areas. Couture changes every camp he brings in different coaches or goes occassionally to other camps to try and add new things to his game.
Yeah usually. I kept cringing at every Hamil punch Saturday thinking ok is he down yet ? Im used to see Keith on his ass in every fight :yep Look at man Houston, Chuck (dropped to his knees), Wandy, Vera, Rampage, Thiago and Bader he was dropped in 7 straight fights. Good for him to stay standing the entire fight especially when he was gassed. Also the dudes already wacky looking but you stick a bloody faced and gassed out fighter in Jardine's body you got one hilarious looking fighter. Watching him hunched over, bleeding with his mouth wide open is like watching some creepy horror movie.
can't really say that, he's made decent money with ufc and he's been given his shot, he just didn't win it all. you know, fight history is full of good fighters who never won the title. a hundred years from now, long after these words are typed some young kid will come across an old ufc (whatever that was) fight result with the name keith 'dean of mean' jardine, think it's cool and look into him and his fights and find out he was a pretty good fighter. we can't say that that we'll be remembered like that.
I think it's pretty cool what you said. He has achieved a hell of a lot, and I certainly will remember him very fondly. That said it does seem a little brutal how fighters are cut from the UFC or any other organisation. Could you imagine a tennis player losing four matches and then being forced to retire by being dropped by the tennis organisation.
Yeah, the Zuffa organization has been selectively brutally cruel or fiercely loyal to certain fighters...it's weird. Some guys, they just kick to the curb in a heartbeat, and some they give chance after chance and endless support. Fortunately, a lot of the people in the latter category are the really good guys that you want to see taken care of...like Pulver and, hopefully, Jardine.
Yeah, he's turning into another Gary Goodridge. They need to stop licensing these guys when it gets to a certain point.
Goodridge yes that man has had to atleast lost like 13 fights in a row by now. Pulver not yet he has lost 7 out 8 but its all vs Champions, serious contenders or high level gatekeepers BJ, J-Lauzon, Faber 2x, Garcia, Grispi and Vazquez. If he gets smoked vs some journeymen or can on 8/14 then please get this man out of the cage before he cant speak. I think Champions like this should be allowed to fight if they want but I do say we should encourage them not to if that makes and sense.
Don't be a negative nancy. This is very much a pro-Jardine thread (in actuality, if not original intent). :nono If we need to cling to irrational, quixotic hopes that he can win a UFC title, so be it.
I don't care if it's a pro jardine thread. I'm answering the TS question and that's how i feel. He loss 4 in a row including back to back to ultimate fighters bader and hamill. If he wants a chance to win a title then the best way is to go to strikeforce or another MMA organization. If he stays or doesn't get cut then i can see dana feeding him to another up and comer fighter.
