I didnt get to see the fight, but on my way home I checked the scene to see the results, and almost everyone had Ruiz winning. Lol @ the dcafs that thought Ruiz was going to get knocked out or destroyed. I told you guys Parker is a hypejob.

I thought the two judges who scored it 115-113 to Parker were on the money. Ruiz started well but faded in the middle rounds and allowed Parker to nick rounds behind his jab. He really didn't need to do much more than that and I feel Ruiz's lack of conditioning cost him the chance to win. When he did get close and engage he got the better of the action but did this less and less frequently as the fight progressed.

The thing about post-fight reactions though, those who felt the decision was wrong are always more vocal because they feel there is a case that needs to be made, whereas those who agreed with the judges don't really have anything to say as they are not motivated by an apparent injustice. It's not a good acid test for how a fight went imho....

It was that tediously boring I stopped scoring it halfway through.

I knew Parker would get it on points even if it was close.

Well, when I went on the scenes thread I was browsing during the fight since I couldnt watch it to see their RBR, and they all had Ruiz up. You can check it out yourself. So they were being vocal before the fight. They also predicted that there was no way ruiz was going to get the decision in Parkers hometown.

This was the consensus over at the scene before the scorecards came out.

Yeah there was one guy scoring it wide for Ruiz but he was swimming against the tide from what I can recall. I think it was a fair decision, not a home town robbery at all...

Ruiz would have had to have won by about 4 or 5 CLEAR rounds to have gotten a decision there. Anything other than that was always going to be given to Parker in NZ.

After I saw the photo of Ruiz , how much weight he lost for the fight , I changed my opinion about getting knocked out. I am really sceptic about him , will watch the match later. But really , was it Parker who was bad or just Ruiz impressed you guys?

Just watched the fight and although I didn't score it I was not impressed with Parker. He seems to have plateaued and I was fan going in.
Couple of take away from the fight. Parker fought off the back foot much like Ward in a safety first mode. Unlike Ward he was more active with the jab and it had more bite on it but he never showed any urgency anytime in the fight. You can say he stuck to his game plan or you can say all he had to do was survive and he knew the score would be in his favor.
I felt Ruiz got the best of almost every exchange but the fact he couldn't slip the jab cost him.
Parker has a very good resume so far I feel it's better than Wilder's and Joshua's but he no longer impresses me after today and the Takam bout. I would make Joshua a big favorite.
As for Ruiz - if he could lose another 12lbs and fight with a little more aggression he could be a very fun heavyweight to watch. He is very calm. Has fast hands and good inside moves.

I had it 7-5 Ruiz and I thought he won his rounds very clearly. Did Parker hurt his right hand? Barely threw it.

Hometown Decision? It isn't Vegas were all the Judges have to be from Nevada! Judges are now Ramon Pascual Cerdan (Argentina), Save Lagumbay (Philippines) and Ingo Barrabas (Germany). All U.S. judges were previously announced. The WBO Supervisor Richard De Cuir. The bout will air on HBO on a same-day delayed telecast.
