Supposedly Russell and Rey Vargas finalized a deal and I reckon they are waiting for a date.

I'm curious how much money Russel has made throughout his career to stay so idle for this amount of time. Does he receive big signing bonuses from his promoter.. Some of the lower weight fighters who are champs dont make tons of money..

How much is Gary Russell the boxer worth?

Not only name and fame, but Russell Jr. has also earned a tremendous wealth through his boxing career. According to the source, he has an estimated net worth of $1 million as of 2020.

He said he doesn't even like boxing. He got his ego snatched in 2014 and he'll never get it back. He's old as hell for his weight class. Really only relevant in the larger boxing scene as he legitimized the Loma hype all those years ago and started the run he went on.

Lets remember he has been fighting his entire life and I think he got tired of it.
It wasn't like he got embarrassed by Loma.
Thing Russel wants out but needs a couple of paydays first.
Only problem- he is a fast slick southpaw who not too many people want to fight.

How the hell the WBC let this fool keep the strap. He is holding it hostage.

He always fights his mandatories within the timeframe.

    No reason to strip him.

Yeah, no reason. He always fights vs his mandatories & always had weighted in in limit.

Who the hell knows what he’s up to. It’s clear that he doesn’t give a **** about becoming great or for p4p stardom. One of the biggest wastes of talent of the decade.

We always want our talented fighters to fight the best and to challenge themselves but have to remember this is the hurt business.. one mistake in the ring, career, overstepping abilities and the results can be devastating and life consuming for the boxer and their families... I am not a big fan of Russell but dont begrudge his career choices as long as he is able to provide a life for himself and the ones he loves...

He only fights a max of once per year so he is still on schedule.
