So what's up with Gary Russell Jr these days?

Ol Gary just waiting on the WBC to name TBA as his mandatory.

 

What he had legitimezed?
Loma and Garry were mature adults, 126 lbs division pro boxers.
Garry lost vs Loma but this was for WBO World title.
Loma fights vs someone after this and then moves up. Looks that Loma loves belts and like this, he even had stayed in ams so long: to be declared as amateur superstar is enough with 1 Olympic Gold + 1 World Gold medal. Loma racked 2 Olympic Gold medals and bla bla bal bunch with am medals.

After this Loma moves to 130 lbs division.
Garry after fight vs Loma had some wins, get WBC title shot at 126, won and did not had moved up.

Nothing wrong. I think Garry had proper choice not to move up.

Loma too might had picked choice to stay at 126 lbs as long as it is possible.
If he had picked some easy opponents to finish in distance for non title fights and then did title defenses vs less dangerous opponents possible to get for title defense then he today maybe had more money.
Fans does love impressively looking stoppages and I think he should had picked at least 2-3 bums for non title fights, then do next title defense fight vs someone and move up only if he is not able to make weight.

Loma looks that prefer more belts, so he moved up.

U need impressively looking KO wins or impressive TKO wins to get more respect.
He should had KOed bunch with bums in row, then fans maybe had forgived him that he is not from US.

Sounds about right for Haney,
He cant get Teo cause Uncle Bob be power tripping & grudge holding.

While Gary Russell jr is fast & flashy ,

Haney would hold all size & reach advantages over him.

which would be advisable considering how much trouble he was in vs Linares.
