is it likely they are buying time, ducking etc. rather than actually having a back injury?

    Examples:

Haye vs. Vitali (or was it Wlad?)
    Dirrell vs. Abraham
    Maidana vs. Bradley

he should have just let someone else take care of the issue and release a statement about setanta being ****ed and his money not being right ...etc.

the back thing was ridiculous....even wladimir don't understand why he did that... the setanta thing was a valid excuse... now david can't use that back excuse and has to think of something else more original to duck him.

I understand that...but it seems pretty coincidental that over the past few months, that was a common excuse that turned out to be false.

Yep, and rib injuries are used to buy more time to promote a fight.

Tyson: I broke my back. My back is Broken. (what kind of injury?) Spinal...

can't have a discussion of back injuries without quoting the most famous of all quotes on boxing back injries.

Yeah, Tyson even mentioned it in his rap song for Valuev in the tribute concert on VH1 Russia.

That's the great thing about REAL ARTiST'S like Michael Tyson. They always include autobiographical details that just can't be made up. Like Stallone in the first Rocky film. Or Sam Peckinpah's entire career.

Hats off to Michael Tyson. He's a real artist.

" I injured my back" is right up there with "Mental Exhaustion" and "I have a headache" in shitty excuses people will believe.
