I already think he's the best MW. He doesn't have anything left to prove to me. There isn't a single person there right now that makes me think they would give Golovkin problems. That doesn't mean I don't think there are skilled fighters at MW, just that I don't think they are on Golovkin's level.
It is a very significant improvement to Golovkin's resume, but let's not pretend it makes it a great resume. The reason we rate GGG so highly is how good he looks and the fact that some of the other 160s have professed themselves too scared to fight him.
jacobs in reality is no better than lemieux. actually worse. these guys won't rate golovkin even if he were to ko ward in one though.
No one except Ward, Kovalev, Stevenson and Beterbiev give him anything shy of a wasted career to his haters. He needs them all just to make the HOF in their eyes, and all by KO
It's the best fight to be made at 160. There's not much else GGG can do to be honest. If he could conceivably beat Jacobs, a stay busy fight in the Summer, and Canelo he will gave beaten Hopkins defence's record and be undisputed (as I think either he or Canelo will pick up the WBO this year) AND have his big money, defining fight. Would almost be enough to retire on
No one at Middleweight can defeat Him...Canelo has a slim chance but already handed over his belt rather than Fight Golovkin...Will dominate the Middleweight division for as long as He likes....or until age catches up with Him....
I prefer the Danny fight to the Canelo fight, at least Danny is the same size Canelo is too small Danny would be the best win on the old boys resume for sure but we can't talk p4p until he moves up and dares to be great.
Unfortunately, this is a realistic summation of the GGG haters. As others have already said in the thread, though, who cares? If a small group of people wants to criticize GGG in videos, articles and posts targeted at an equally-small niche of the boxing fan community, does it matter? GGG is doing what he needs to do. If I were him, I'd work to capture all the belts and go for Hopkins' record. Should he do those two things, and keep his unblemished record, history is likely to be very kind to him. Regardless of the noise of the contemporary haters. Any serious observer of the sport can see how talented Golovkin is. It's pretty obvious. He has some exceptional gifts (power, chin) and he has athleticism and versatility as well, when he needs it (Lemieux fight). He kind of reminds me of a small Vitali, actually. Very dominant fighter. It's seems like kind of a surprise when he loses rounds.
I've always said Jacobs is glass jawed, and a B levle fighter at best. Tons of people can vouch for me on this, I've said this for years. Also clowned on his dumbo ears.
