All we have heard for years is that boxing is dying and it is on its last legs and UFC is going to dominate. Yet if anything it looks like UFC has peaked and boxing is going through a revival.

When is football going to die and basketball take over?

Oh, no, they're both very popular and have been for years.

Boxing had a far more illustrious history than a lot of sports. It can never hope to go back to those days.

  6. Boxing, like all other sports, enjoys peaks and troughs of popularity but will always exist in some shape or form.

For example, as those of us old enough to remember will testify, there was once a time when it seemed the whole nation stood still for the World Championships in both snooker and darts but these are now both almost obscure despite the tv coverage they still enjoy.

Boxing has never seriously been under threat from UFC as they are disimilar sports aimed at a very different market audience. Also, if you ask an average person on the street to name the best UFC star you would get around 1 out of every 100 able to name just one UFC fighter when almost every granny in the UK knows Audley Harrison.

Boxing has the history and ability to often capture the nation's attention and this will always be the case.

The Boxing vs UFC debate was played out five years ago, but it still gets dragged up occasionally by lazy people looking for a news angle. There's enough room for everyone - Football, Boxing, UFC, Darts, Basketball, Rugby, Wrestling and whatever else.

you cant say it'll never get back to what it once was, you never know.

more needs to be done to entice kids off the streets (no paedo) & learn them at an early age. if we have enough good people coming through at the same time it could so easily peak again.

not enough is done to promote it to youngsters in my opinion.

I agree with this, horses for courses. :good

They don't clash, they both appeal to different groups with some inevitable crossover. In differnet parts of the world MMA is more popular and in others boxing. There is room for both and they'll both be around for eons to come.

Boxing dies when I die, seeing as the chances of me ever watching it again are slim at best.
