Since losing to Lesnar he's beaten Kongo, lost to Carwin and then reeled off wins over the ghost of Cro Cop, Big Country and Zombie Nog.

Obviously he still has more to do, but how far away from a title shot is he, and who does he need to challenge to get there?

If Reem loses to Brock, then that should be his next opponant.

If Brock loses, then he should fight Cain.

He loses to all the other top contenders not named Werdum and Reem.

And those guys can beat him if they are on their a-game, and in a favorable position.

I.E, Reem clinching, and Werdum taking him down and making it a long fight.

Very well if he sticks to his BJJ game and sheds 15 pounds of not-needed muscle

One more fight to a quality opponent, and then he should get a title shot.

If Strikeforce folds into the UFC, give him Josh Barnett.

Other than that, maybe Kongo if he defeats Hunt. Battle of the "gatekeepers" to get a title shot.

Maybe the loser of Overeem versus Brock. Or Carwin or Velasquez. But the UFC doesn't usually match a winner versus a loser.

Well with 15lbs he's back to 245.. However, I can see shedding 20 and going to 240lbs

I thought he would come in lighter then the 260 he did in this fight and it showed by him getting hit standing like an oxe, however he was lucky nog went for the sub and then mir recovered and used his size to overwhelm nog with a sub of his own. I think about 245-250 would be good for him.

I think that label sounds about right for him. To call him a gatekeeper seems a little harsh, but you don't really see him winning the title again. He'll beat the real gatekeepers like Roy Nelson, but he'll lose to the champions and the Carwin-level top contenders.

I would like to see him fight either cain velazquez or the loser of lesnar-overeem. If lesnar loses to overeem then i prefer he fights cain.

Kicking ass 16 out of 21 fights is hardly a habit of getting "violently beatdown.."

245 is my perfect weight for Frank Mir. With his new improved striking and still deadly BJJ game, he is a threat for ANY UFC HW.
