Does anyone remember his shitty, outright boring, cheating, clutching, acting, foul-pretending efforts?

A little balance might be in order.

    Yup.

I think people who scored for Calzaghe should watch the entire fight in slow motion.

Yeah, because that's how judges score it too. Tell you what, while we're at it we'll watch Ali-Norton, Louis-Walcott, Ramiriez-Whitaker, Lockridge-Gomez, ad infinitum, again eh.

I think he sneaks inside the top 40.

He does not rate in my top twenty, his style is excruciating to watch and apart from a good win against Pavlik ( hardly any recomendation) he has wrestled, butted, elbowed and low blowed his way to victories. He has no ko power and it is over seven years since he got someone out of there, the only thing he executes is the concept of sports entertainment, however, to get in the ring at his age is a remarkable thing and for that and that alone he should be applauded.

It's very very hard to imagine his fellow middleweight rulers Hagler or Monzon behaving like Hop was in Jones 2.

I think that must be considered too when evaluating a fighter.

I think Hopkins, despite his dominance, prevailed in such a weak middleweight era that I can't rank him inside the top 5 there (I used to) and his top wins at 175 are against Tarver (decent fighter, good win) and Pascal (nice guy, fairly athletic, poor technique and range of skills) so I'm not certain B-Hop is the all conquering master some would have you believe.

But a brilliant fighter because he gets immense kudos for certain 'wow' factor things he's achieved as he's got older, and in terms of skillset is a highly capable scientist and a joy to watch (when on song). Just inside my top 40 at best, but probably fits better in the 41-50 bracket. I'd certainly have him below Mike Spinks, who is just inside the top 40.

As time goes by, Hopkins will become more and more appreciated, particularly when he finally does call it a day.

For the moment I have in the 25-30 all time bracket and the number five all time Middleweight. Ahead of Hagler and Walker; with only Messrs Burley, Ketchel, Robinson and Monzon ahead of him.
