So where does Hopkins rank now all-time?

Also, Pavlik was far more proven then Lacy. You can argue that Lacy was a true hype job, but he's still treated as Calzaghe's coming out party, that he's given endless kudos for.

Pavlik's single KO win over Taylor eclipses anything Lacy's done.

    1. You want to laud his performance last night (which was truly laudatory) and then degrade his credentials from several months ago. Has Hopkins been given some age exemption here wherein every accomplishment adds to his legacy whilst every failure does not subtract from it? Bull****.

2 Go watch the fight again. It wasn't even that close. And Calzaghe landed some excellent blows down the homestretch, ones that dissuaded Hopkins attempts at offence and sealed the deal.

This pretty much sums up my feelings regarding B-Hop.

If you want to take away Joe Calzags win then Maxie Rosenbloom lost every fight of his career.

That Tiger Flowers is also looking suspect.

    1. The performance for a 43yo was truly great. But he is 43, 8-14years past his peak prime, ofcourse a loss so long from his physical prime doesnt hurt his legacy while wins past prime still build his case. Guess what a win over Hopkins does not take away from the fact that Calazage avoided Pavlik, Tarver, Johnson and doesn't have wins over them. Just because he gets a disputed decision over 1 doesn't mean he beats the rest

    2. No you get your eye sight tested, most of Calazages shots didnt land on the head, they hit air, gloves, shoulders. Calazage never landed more than a handful of clean FLUSH punches in the whole fight

I think you're overstating, but i've seen worse coming from the other lot.

The point is, Joe won against a fighter who's just knocked off a p4p top 10 fighter, a young reigning MW champ. There's really nothing else to say about it. Hopkins is evil and a cracking fighter and he proved that against Pavlik.

Specious reasoning, thy name is PowerPuncher.

And is Hopkins really past his prime? Can you name me a significantly better performance of his than last night?

Hes 43, the human body starts declining at 25, you do the math. Hopkins was a completely different animal in his prime, watch some of his fights if you want to see

Prime Hopkins would have stopped Pavlik mid-rounds.

    :(

Anyway: check this video out. Pavlik trying to explain his loss. He literally cannot explain what has happened to him. That type of craft only comes with serious experience:

A few weeks ago I was bemoaning the lack of superclass fighters - guys with the experience and the athleticism to do great things in the ring. I take it back.

Yeah, but he's got that Jersey Joe Walcott boxing genius thing going on. Very few fighters qualify for notion of getting better (or at least maintaining) with age. Honestly, that might have been the best I've ever seen B-Hop. And I do not believe Pavlik was "exposed" as he has beaten some very dangerous and capable fighters.

And to your last point, a 60 year old Hopkins would beat Pavlik. That' will always be a disasterous match-up for Kelly.
