So, where's the proof Algeri is better than Broner?

First things first I'm not a super Broner fan, and I always thought he was overrated and his hype wasn't warranted.

As far as all the post suggesting some how Algeri is better than Broner is bull****. It's simply to early to tell who is better.

Yes, Algeri did a better job, and more boring job fighting against Taylor, but that's mainly due to the blue print Maidana put out on him. Just because Taylor couldn't exploit Algeri's flaws doesn't mean they weren't in front of him all night. After 1 round I knew he had no boxing background.

Algeri is technical worse than Broner. For every mistake Broner makes Algeri makes 2. I couldn't even get through the Taylor fight because the guy is just not techinacl sound. The guy chin stays in the air, and his movement has no subtle parts.

Algeri won't get out the 3rd round with Pac. With his many flaws against Roaches game plan the night will be short.

I will admit against Prov his style allowed him to escape trouble. I also admit his style is more suited for Prov than Broner style is for Prov, but styles make fights

You put this two dudes in front of the top 10 Junior welter weights my money is on Broner winning more fights, and Algeri getting KO often

If he can last 12 rounds with Pac and have some success then he is better than Broner...

A Broner-Algeiri fight is 50-50 in my eyes, might lean slightly towards Broner...Neither will ever be a true force at 140/147 tho

You do realize that Algeri survived all that Provodnikov could take right? You do realize that Broner was continuously on ***** street during the Maidana fight right? Also, there is no way that Algeri is worse technically than Broner. Broner has an abundance of fast-twitch muscle fibers in his body. He has no game plan, no defense, no toughness, has never successful fought through diversity, and came up short the only time he was ever in with a live opponent. Algeri isn't fast, he can't really punch but he sure as hell can box, slip, and out stick-and-move Broner.

have to disagree with the toughness bit. I don't like broner one bit but he fought through getting stung by taylor a few times and he kept going through a hell of an ass whipping by maidana, and even had marcos hurt late in that fight.

With that being said, do you believe Algeri would of made it out a live against Maidana or even hurt him?

Algieri dominated Taylor, Broner barely eked by him and without the KD it should have been a draw.
Algieri doesn't have many names on his resume yet, but Ruslan is worth more than anyone on Broner's, since he destroyed Alvarado, beat the hell out of Bradley and Herrera.

Well look at it like this :

Broner has always been a career welterweight in size, he came into the ring even at 130 much larger than when he weighed in (not even bothering to make the scales in the Escobedo fight) and his only noteable fights were against Demarco (pretty much a C list fighter) and Gavin Rees (5'4)

He avoided 140 when the division was packed and took on what many saw as an easy fight against the light hitting Paulie Malignaggi who was coming off a less than impressive win in his last fight. Malignaggi didnt have the pop on his punches to bother Broner or to stop him coming forward but he compensated by throwing in high volume which just gave him the edge in a lot of peoples eyes due to Broners activity.

Now Broner finally fights a live body his own size in Marcos Maidana who had been in hard fights against Lopez, Karass and even taking a loss to Alexander. again Broner picked what he thought was an easy target and it backfired and had a tune up against Carlos Molina (the 140 fighter)

Finally Broner decides to fight Emmanuel Taylor who again despite looking vunerable before hand made Broner Struggle to get the W. if it had been someone like Provodnikov that Broner had fought I doubt he would have made it to the final bell.

Now Algieri burst onto the scene after a tough battle with a much larger fighter than him naturally in Ruslan Provodnikov and was smart enough to take a knee after being knocked down once to recover. this allowed him to outbox Provodnikov despite getting tagged with some vicious shots and won the decision.

This is the same Algieri who easily handled Emmanuel Taylor. He hasnt goot any noteable names beside Provodnikov on his record but considering he is only 20-0 and converted from Kickboxing (also a world champion) he has come along surprisinly well

Do I think Algieri is an amazing boxer? no. He has a lot of potentiol to become a great fighter but has been played by Arum to move up in weight just 1 fight removed from his first world title win.

Do I think Algieri is a better fighter than Broner? yes.

Algieri faced early controversey against Provodnikov, recovered then won
Broner faced early controversey and cried to the ref to deduct points and lost

Broner has fought tougher opposition as of late but you can argue Paulie Malignaggi beat him and Marcos Maidana certainly did. the first two world level fighters broner fought that he didnt have a massive weight advantage over he lost to

Algieri is a heavy underdog going into the Pacquiao fight but this could be a real breakout fight for him to prove beating Ruslan was no fluke. if he wins he is a star, if he loses then all his talent will likely get wasted when Arum chews him up and spits him out

Algieri would outbox broner quite easily if they ever fought, if Algieri can take Ruslans power I got a feeling Broner isnt going to cut it especially with his inactivity

Taylor isn't exactly a power puncher and. I think you need to be reminded of this:

Algeri took his lumps and fought on, even when his eye was almost completely closed.

Still not seeing a lack of toughness. chin and defense sure, intelligence of course. If he didnt have toughness he wouldn't be fighting at this level with his leaky defense

There is no way that he'd hurt Maidana, but he would definitely make it the distance. And he'd do so without any of the excessive holding, and he wouldn't be caught acting like a tool and rolling around on the ground embellishing a much deserved headbutt. I'm pretty sure Algeri wouldn't try and get gay and hump another man the ring like that clown Broner did.
