    Wlad or Vitali?

Both have a good claim, Wlad had become consensus number 1, Vitali was the true number 1 and just picked up his old belt.

    I'd say Vitali, just...

    Vitali.

He was #1 when he left and just destroyed the #2 guy in much more impressive fashion than his brother did.

Wladimir fought the better overall total competition throughout the years but I believe Vitali would beat everyone at heavy right now...including Wlad.

    Vitali

On the basis that he returned from a four year layoff to destroy (that is the correct word) a guy that his brother laboured to a UD over and was decked.

Vitali would have KO'd Iggy - and sent Tony Thompson into orbit never to return.

Now - not wishing to overrate Vitali at all, but you have to put into context the common opponents of each.

    Vitali destroys Peter
Wlad labours to UD over Peter and is decked

    Wlad KO'd by Sanders
    Vitali KO's Sanders

Both destroyed Chris Byrd - but Vitali has to pull out

    Enough said.

Wlad should still rank #1 if you rank by accomplishment like boxrec does. He has recently beaten so many top fighters (top of a weak division admittedly) and he already beat Peter himself.

Since Vitali retired in 2004, Wlad beat Peter, Byrd, Brock, Austin, Brewster, Ibragimov and Thompson. All except Austin were top 10 fighters.

If it´s based on head to head then it´s hard to know - they won´t fight each other for one thing.

    Wlad.

In the past 4 years he's 8-0 with 6 KOs or Stoppages

Vitali is 1-0 with 1 KO

Wlad has earned the #1 spot, regardless if you personally think Vitali might be the better fighter.

Well on accomplishment it HAS to be Wlad
Vitali might be the better fighter though.

There is no doubt though that they are #1 and #2 now, whichever way you twist it.

Vitali is the most talented hw by far.

Wlad deserves to hold the mythical #1 spot however because of his dominance the past 4 years.

Wladimir. He has 2 belts (3 if you include the IBO) and he was the number 1 Heavyweight. Vitali just beat the number 2 Heavyweight so he's the new number 2.

    Vitali is just plain better.

Doesn't matter who we rank as #1...Vitali would beat Wlad and everyone else.
