    Is fighting TBA ??? WTF???_
SmH. Both yOung talented fighters, both around the same age. Mikey is fighting the best featherweight, while Russell Jr is fighting a TBA which will be a Mexican Cab driver or a white club fighter from Iowa. Also, when Russell was offered a legit opponent in undefeated Cuban Luis Franco, he ducked the.fight wtf;? ESB whats your take on this??? GoldenBoy/Hamon need to watch how they match GR JR or he will be.the next Berto

Russell is about as clear of a can't miss prospect as I've seen and needs to step up.

Russell Jr needs to step up his comp badly. His team also turned down a fight with Fortuna a while back, which would've been an awesome fight, and the perfect main event for a HBO boxing after dark or Shobox card

Russell Jr. is a great talent but his level of comp thus far has been ****. His promoter needs to step it up and start getting him better fights. He needs to fight someone in the top 10 of his division next and if he wins a title shot after that.

I totally agree, he is ready for the big boys and I wish his handlers would unleash him. Holding him back is only hurting him. If a fight is not made, it's not because Gary is ducking. He is supremely sure of himself and with good reason. I wanna see the young man rumble.:bbb

@24 he still has another year to dick around & fight scrubs.
(But get him on TV and exposure doing it or else it's a waste)

Unfortunately for him tho, these lower weight limits don't **** around @the elite level.

Really like the dude. But I agree. Although I read in a recent article, Russell talked about fighting 3 times this year, with the 3rd fight being for a title.

If he doesn't step up this year, I might change my opinion about him.

I've been looking at him as the potential guy to replace Floyd as my favorite 'current' fighter when he retires, but he's got to start earning it soon. :-( He has the ****in' goods (and then some) to be a very good, if not flat out great fighter.

I remember last year Billy Dib said on fox sports in Australia that he would be fighting Russell Jnr in the USA next. But Dib talks a lot of ****.

overrated as they come. I don't think he can go 12. There is a reason his promoter has bumped his scheduled 10 rounders to 8 against a durable opponent. Salido would chew him up and spit him out.

Great talent with sub par opposition to show it against thus far. As it's been said, he needs to step it up this year. Giving him all these soft touches does nothing good for him in the long run.

this is a less vitriolic version of the Deontay Wilder thread -- except people are saying Russell has talent.

we fans want fighters to "step it up" -- of course we do! But the dreaded "handlers" are trying to make as much money as possible with the lowest risk.

They are wary of Danny Jacobs type "step up fights" where beforehand everyone says "he's ready!" and afterwards they say "too soon!".
