I am with natonicon all the way.

LT Heavy gets my vote! Great fighters, lots of interesting matchups IMO.

Most of the 'old 8' have been done except bantam and fly. That's why light-welter should be next. I said it was the most unpredictable from the off, I still stick by that.

The heavyweights get my vote. I know it's been done to death, but wait, hear me out on this. Instead of rehashing the usual suspects again, how about we conduct a tournament of heavyweights with clearly third or fourth tier talent? Then we'd get guys like Lyle, Witherspoon, and Douglas. I think it could have possibilities.

Good idea that. The 1980s excluding the Big Two would be interesting. Although even thinking about how dull and pointless Tucker vs Tate would be might put people off.

I see how that might be a problem, but it is still a fascinating opportunity to explore something new. I don't think Drew's ever done something quite like this before. It could be an interesting experiment, if nothing else.

I suggest we start a poll on who people think the best candidates are for such a tournament. We could approximate a list of the 50 best fighters, cut-off that list using only fighters below 30 or thereabouts, and start the tournament from there.

That might be overdoing it a bit, it's a fine idea but we don't wanna gild the lily. May as well vote for top 16 heavies of the 1980s bar Larry and Tyson. Then have a straight knockout.

Light welters like I said. But it isn't a bad idea, seeing who the consensus on classic regard as the best of that era- providing it isn't Tucker, who'd be lucky to actually feature in the tournament.

Might get around to 154 shortly.

So...since I didn't get around to 140 prior to this point, I might as well do it now. the 140lb thread shall be created in the next day or so, so we can hammer out who should and should not be included.
