BC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has revealed his next fight date. Fury made the announcement in a 21 second video on social media. “Hi This is Tyson Fury, the Gypsy King, and I’d just like to announce I’m definitely fighting December 5th in London in the UK. Opponent to be announced very, very soon. Just working on some opponents. Let you all know who it’s going to be shortly.” >>> Okay, it better not be Simon Kean or someone like him. Also why give your opponent so little time to train? This is not how a lineal champion should act. Fury is working to be in shape, the opponent he's likely going to pick is not. I sense a BS title defense coming.
It might be a BS title defense but better than no fight at all. He might surprise us and fight someone decent. I would rather he fight anyone than hang around waiting for the Wilder fight.
It didn't have to be a BS title defense. Fury could have had a top 15 contender on stand by weeks ago. If if someone very old or ranked outside the top 25, shame on Fury.
I just hope it's at least above any fight besides Wilder level, since his comeback. It has to be for it to be a legit defence, right?!
I'd be okay with a fighter above the typical Wilder defense level. I doubt we'll see that. I'd also be okay with an undefeated heavyweight on the rise.
Only wbc top 15 fighters without a fight that make any sense are Kabayel, Hunter, and Rivas. Ajagbe, and Hrgovic are prospects and their management should not be considering this matchup. I'd like Hunter but Kabayel makes the most sense (in house fight and probably the least punching power of the group)
He's not going to fight Wilder, [tough opponent], Joshua. It's going to be a light defense and as long as Joshua is next, I'm okay with it.
The best guy who's appeared briefly in the frame is Hunter, but I suspect that business won't get done. And, tbf, that isn't really the way business gets done with a full stop. Valid opponents are possible but with the type of absurd money that is on the line for a two-fight series with AJ next year, I expect to see a no-hoper.
As others have said, I think it will be Kabayel. It's a stay busy fight for Tyson to keep the dogs in his head from barking. He'll face the lightest hitter he can find and will be flying in a holding pattern until he can get in the ring with Joshua. If he can pick someone outside the top 20 he will.
Will it be any worse than Alex Leapai, Jean Marc Mormeck, Eddie Chambers, Ray Austin, Calvin Brock, Derrick Jefferson or old Chris Byrd, Hasim Rahman, Frans Botha etc? I doubt it. Many of the same people who big up Wladimir Klitschko rip into Tyson Fury for the quality of his opposition. It's priceless.
Tyson Fury's trait is blue balling you Then going out in his next fight against the best opponent possible and totally dominating him.
