I actually prefer to see Fury giving young guns like Wallin and Abayel a shot, especially during down periods like this. Instead of known old shotworn opponents like Pulev & Povetkin.
im sitting here just shaking my head. all of a sudden, its all cool no biggie, because (insert excuse here).
Yes, it could be. No more Schwartz level people please. I heard Simon Kean, which below all of those names and an obscure 40 year old Aussie fighter. Also, many of the names you gave were not in Wlad's title fights. Jefferson and Botha for example. Wlad's level of competition towers above Fury, its not even close.
WBC rankings WBC Tyson Fury Alexander Povetkin - Not a chance Deontay Wilder - Wilder still recovering... Oleksandr Usyk - Not a chance Luis Ortiz - How old is he now? Andy Ruiz - Not a chance. Dillian Whyte - Not a chance Joseph Parker - Not a chance Daniel Dubois - Has a scheduled match Oscar Rivas - This would be an okay pick by Fury standards. Filip Hrgovic - Not a chance. Fury would be knocked out Michael Hunter -Matches up horribly vs Fury, too small, no power, makes sense, and not a bad pick. Joe Joyce - Has a scheduled match Dereck Chisora - Has had his chances already Charles Martin - How is he ranked? Would be a terrible pick Efe Ajagba - Not chance, he hits way too hard. Agit Kabayel - Not very good, and not an acceptable pick. Ranked 35th at box rec.
Shows what I know! I thought it was dependant on what belt he's defending and where that belt ranks the fighter, not boxrec. My suggestion on another thread was Helenius but he probably doesn't meet the criteria either. I don't like stay busy fights but it's part of the game these days, maybe forever tbh. I'll tolerate a stay busy fight as long as it's on "free" ( i.e. on a sports channel that you already pay a premium for ) tv and not PPV. So you're going with Rivas?
It definitely goes both ways. Wallin and Kabayel are quality guys, and both could have good careers. I just wish Wallin would go out an prove himself now rather than begging for the rematch. Schwartz, however, is not a good fighter, will never be a good fighter, and probably finds five guys who can kick his ass in a bar on Friday night. Dude was being bullied by Senad Gashi, and that is all you have to know about him. I like the approach too, when they are working in good young undefeated fighters, but some are defiantly better than others.
With less than 6 weeks to go, Fury is not giving his opponent much time to train or get in shape. It could come down to who's willing to accept the least amount of money, which generally means a bad opponent. Fury fans can insert there excuses here _____________________________________ This is not how a lineal heavyweight champion should act mid way though his tenure. He should be enriching his resume with legitimate top ten contenders, not giving the fans mis-matches by fighting fringe contender types.
No, I was showing the WBC rankings only and making comments as to who was out there. Rivas really isn't that good, He's small and can't punch, losing his last outing to Dillian Whyte in July 2019 and has not fought since. However Rivas compared to some of the name floating around on the web would be dare I say an acceptable pick. Helenius would be an excellent pick. He's not skilled, or probably in shape, but he can punch, which is why I doubt he's selected. Fury would run the risk of being exposed, and fans would jump on him as he is in fact hiding a suspect chin.
In that early lockdown interview he named [aside from Wilder & Joshua] possible future opponents as Whyte, Miller, Pulev, Ruiz, Ortiz, Dubois, Joyce, Ajagba, and Yoka. He's also said he rates Jalovov. Especially given the short notice, his December fight will be with someone from outside the above lists.
No matter who Fury fights, he'll win unless he decides to show up at 30% like he did vs Wallin and almost got TKO'd.
Honestly, I don't care. As long as it is someone that doesn't wilt within the first couple rounds, and gives Tyson at least 6 rounds then it is fine. Look, we have waited so long for a HW fight of the magnitude of Fury vs AJ. I would accept Fury vs Johnny Knoxville as long as it ensured we get the undisputed fight in 2021.
Well Fury has fought three generational fights and won two of them and been robbed in the third. He fought and beat Wladimir Klitschko and fought and beat Deontay Wilder; a further draw in a fight he should have won with Deontay Wilder makes him very much active against the best available to him. I'm a big believer in "one for me one for you". So after fighting the best or second best in the world excepting yourself, you're entitled to an easy one. Fury fought the best available then the second best available in Wilder, back to back. This entitles him to a soft one. It also puts hm way, way ahead of someone like Vitali Klitschko in terms of ambition in meeting the best available. He's arguably already buried Vitali for legacy, but if not, he certainly will if he beats Joshua next year. You should probably calm down about Fury. His last year was absolutely exceptional and his next year will be absolutely exceptional, perhaps.
