He quit do to a number of reasons in the second Leonard match.

Before rejevinating his career against Cuevas and Davey Moore he got lazy and lost to Kirland Laing.

Against Joppy he was obviously shot, at 47 years old.

    Who flat out beat Duran?

    Thomas Hearns.

Many will be surprised to know that a peak Duran was being outpointed by Ray Lampkin until the 12th round. Duran, however, knocked out Lamkin in the 13th round (if memory serves me right) in such brutal fashion that poor Ray was almost killed.

And he would of been according to Duran, if the Hands of Stone had bothered to train!;)

They all legitimately beat him. Quitting and coming into the ring out of shape aren't excuses.

    Gah, you're serious?

What kind of shot did he hit him with?

Lampkin wasn't outpointing him. He fought well, but Duan was clearly winning.

I've seen it claimed before Lampkin was ahead, i think we need definite clarification. I have my doubts, but it has been said more than once.

That they did. Duran of course more than avenged the DeJesus loss, but Benitez was not fought again.

Duran was at his brilliant best for the rubber match. Peak more or less IMO. Rumour has it that both struggled to make the weight, badly, for the final encounter.

Did you ever hear about the Puerto Rican sparring partner Duran had in camp for the fight?. Well he taunted Duran when they finished a session, which sparked Duran into a full scale brawl towards the sparring partner and his trainer. Gloveless to make matters more interetsing.

I did see mention of that, didn't we have someone here that was there or knew all about it?
