I had Hrgovic by a point. Zhang was not active enough and got tired. Still very close though.

I had Zhang winning 115-112, which was probably a bit too far in hindsight. I'll admit I was biased for him, nothing against Hrgovic but I just liked Zhang better. Probably a good thing I ain't a professional judge

But Hrgovic winning was completely fine too. It was a very close fight, one of those ones where a win for Zhang or a draw would have been equally fair to the result that we got. Hrgovic outworked Zhang but I feel like Zhang had the more effective work, and there were times I felt like Hrgovic was on the verge of just quitting. I mean hell, there was a moment Hrgovic just walked off and had a look on his face like "What am I doing here." But Zhang did himself a big disservice by not doing anything at all in the last three rounds. That's probably what gave Hrgovic the fight because it allowed him to recover and to fight with more confidence.

So, it's a non answer, but the winner of the fight depends on what you look for in a round. If you prefer work rate, Hrgovic won easily, if you prefer effective work, Zhang won easily. Basically the winner is whichever one a viewer thinks it was.

    Hrgovic won more rounds.

The referee for some reason was on Zhang's side. The knockdown in round one was really push to the back of the head, Hrgovic was dominating up until that happened.

There was a real knockdown later, around round six or seven. Hrgovic knocked Zhang down, but it was called a slip by the dodgy ref.

Now, Hrgovic was hurt several times, but weathered the storm and clearly outboxed Zhang in most of the rounds, especially the later rounds.

The DAZN commentary team for some reason was giving the impression Zhang was doing better than he was. Whenever Hrgovic landed some good shots, they would ignore it and go on and on about how well Zhang was doing.

I haven't rewatched it but it was razor-close and the KD wasn't a legit KD IMO. Big Bang had the bigger moments but Hrgovic threw and landed a lot more.

I know Hrgovic has had his weird little band of not so merry haters right since he turned pro and people are extremely reluctant to cut him a single ounce of slack, but he was still badly cut up about the death of his father who he was extremely close to and he was over in the US thousands of miles away from his homeland and family whilst going through the grieving process.

And in addition to that it was his first fight with a new trainer and he had to uproot and move to completely new surroundings and faces just 9 or so weeks before the fight. His behaviour during both the week of the fight and in the ring was strange and out of character too.

I told you he had an iron chin, and indeed he does, but the amount of seriously heavy punishment he took in that fight concerns me for him moving forward.
