So, who should Chael fight for his LHW title shot?

Obviously his stock with Dana and the Fertihoweverthe****youspellitta brothers has rocketed up, what with his being willing to step up and get butchered by Jon Jones on 8 days notice while untrained and fat.

Chael is in the home stretch of his career, he's one of the UFC's most valued employees, and there's no doubt that Dana and co will be looking to throw a big-money fight at him sooner rather than later.

It seems a pretty safe bet to reckon that with one or (at the most) two victories, Sonnen will be given a shot at LHW gold.

That being the case, who do you think he will/should fight?

Also, assuming that he's not out of action for too long, is Henderson/Machida the next fight to make? :blood

Chael needs to stay in shape, keep talking, and wait for a main event to get cancelled. Yesterday may have been the closest Sonnen gets to a title shot at 205.

If Sonnen were to go on an defeat Forrest Griffin, it would not warrant a title shot. I think he would need to earn his way into the mix, and would need more than the Griffin win to in order to get into a title eliminator. If he gets past Griffin, he should fight someone like Rampage or Bader. After that he could justify fighting someone like Rashad, Machida, or Shogun for a title shot.

I think the UFC will fast track him. If he gets past Forest, they will give him one more guy, maybe Gustafson and then he'll get a title fight.

Sonnen can sell PPV buys with his personality, so the UFC will probably make him only fight 2 times at LHW before he gets a shot. In the end, I'm skeptical that he can hang at LHW.

I don't see much success for him either, beyond perhaps the first one or two fights anyway. And I think he may perform better than he has in his last couple of fights. He cut a LOT of weight VERY quickly for Anderson 2, and he gassed bad after one round and generally looked weak. I think an extra 20 pounds for his body hopefully should do him some good, and he'll look better. :good

Don't you think something was in the works. Chael started to talk smack a few weeks ago...it has come out that Hendo was injured 3 weeks ago. Hendo and Chael work out with eachother. This was in the works all along. If Hendo couldn't go, try and get the suckers (Fans) into thinking that Chael is risking a title shot, to when he has been working for a shot for the last 3 weeks.

Well up first is Forrest , so he has to deal with him , which i imagine he will by UD or Griffin will sub him off his back , ive got Sonnen UD but its not a given :deal

Then if he comes through that, there will be a host of guys queing up to fight him, as he now has a really high profile, and im not being funny there thats just the truth unfortunately

Rampage and him have a bit of twitter history but Rampage isnt alone in that column , if Rampage beats Glover (which i expect him to by KO) if he fancies one last dance the UFC may make Rampage vs Sonnen, or Glover vs Sonnen depending on how the latter goes

Outside of that, you have Rashad, Davis, Shogun, Machida, Gustaffson, and the remainder of the division, the good wrestler's (Davis and Evans) should campaign for the fight , because Sonnen without his wrestling is very basic, and specifically Evans will really fancy putting a beating on Sonnen i imagine. Not through dislike or hatred, but purely from a stylistic POV

    If he goes 2 & 0 @205 i imagine he'll get a shot

Sonnen / Rua would be ideal, it is a winnable fight with Rua weakness being opponents being able to take him down, while also being a fight which the UFC could easily declare the winner as the number 1 contender.

Or other wise Rampage as the build up would be huge both being the trash talkers they are.
