I saw a few quotes from the welsh dragon yesterday, & he spoke of knowing what its like fighting away from home, describing himself as the 'foreigner' when he was fighting in England & was spat upon by the locals. So it got me thinking, just what fight was it that Calzaghe got spat on? Joe had some big fights in England, against Eubank, Starie, Woodhall & Robin Reid of course. So can anyone fill me in on the fight where Joe Calzaghe was spat upon?
Yes going in it was considered a tough fight to pick with Delaney a slight underdog due to a couple of low-key performances. Calzaghe brutalised him.
Think we can get some B-Hop fans to spit at Joe on his way to the ring? I'd quite like to see B-Hop getting brutalised.
aah, cheers for the info guys. I heard that Delaneys fans were supposed to be complete assholes who always behaved like this. Anyone got any more info on why Delaneys fans were so yobbish?
That's a bit cheeky of him, he's had very good support here. He couldn't have disliked it that much, he's fought 22 times in England.
I can see why people would want to back when Calzaghe was coming through. (although im not condoning it). Calzaghe was an arrogant ***** back then, trying to talk fights up by slagging people off but he didnt have the carisma to pull it off. Since he became champ and settled down his true self has emerged.
I'm surprised someone didn't gob him when he fought David Starie - perhaps the most boring fight I have seen in a British ring.
