Boxing won hands down.....read the article http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=ki-mmamailbag092209&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Nobody has to win, if they both have good numbers it should be a success, the only thing boxing has to worry about is if the Pac-PBF fight takes place which will be a huge ppv what or who is next? there doesn't appear to be many big ppv names that can carry the flag in the future. The UFC has events every month which are successfull and will likely get better.
being reported over at the scene 1.6 million ppv buys for mayweather-marquez......looks like dana white got his ass and his comments about mayweather handed to him, serves you right...
I really hope the PBF fight did 900,000 guranteed if not more. Dana White needs to shut the fcuk up. I dont see how he could spin a number like that.
pbf numbers could reach 1.5 mill, i predicted 500,000 for the boxing and 600,000 for the UFC, it goes to show what GBP did was good and when done properly boxing will always be one step above mma
Boxing does this a couple times a year, UFC does this every month. Boxing just had a couple of their top fighters fight going against a UFC card which really was good but not great and didn't have a huge main event. So don't get to carries away by this.
It would be interesting to see the actual PPV buys for each. However, it's not a competition (despite what Dana White and some whiney boxing/MMA fans will try to tell you) and even if it was it is not as simple as 'who got the most wins'. As mentioned earlier, the UFC was watchable in many bars (I was also unable to find the boxing on anywhere), so people are going to be less inclined to pay for the PPV if they know they can watch it for free with their friends and have someone serve them drinks at the same time! This also means that the number of people watching the MMA for each PPV purchased is likely to be much higher if the trend of being shown in bars was the same around the rest of the country.
