I'll read someones round by round, I stopped paying for Hatton after Urango until he fought someone good and when he did, he got battered.

 

Yes i agree they where bigger fights, i was relating to the opposition that both Lewis and Tyson fought.

Lazcarno is a much better fighter than Francis.

There was just something about tyson fights though. Especially that one. I was at school and everyone was talking about how francis beat tyson in a staredown and how Francis might win. haha. Those were the days when one guy would stand up at the press conference and explain how he's gonna do this and that and it would change your whole prediction of the fight. Then Francis gets knocked down everytime Tyson touches him and has an ad for the Mirror on the soles of his shoes! Classic.

 

Calzaghe's achievements **** over Hatton's people on boxrec pretended It wasn't true until Floyd opened their eyes.

4 belts cleaning out his division then beating the guy at LHW, shits over one win over Tszyu.

 

I like beating the p4p #3 who was unbeaten in 8 years better than any Calzaghe win.

 

I'm not saying Hatton is better than Calzaghe but I don't think it is as clear cut as you think. They both had long bogus title reigns and then stepped up. Hatton was WBA and IBF champion at light welter and WBA champion at welter. He's a two weight world champion and has beaten a P4P top 3 guy. His only loss is to the clear P4P number 1. While Calzaghe has won all three titles at his natural weight he hasn't won any the weight above and Hopkins was both older than Zoo and ranked lower than him P4P. On the other hand you could argue that Calzaghe has never lost let alone been stopped. Like I said it's close. I'd give the edge to Calzaghe though.

 

Yeah, Joe had some pretty bad opponents but I reckon cleaning out your division to become undisputed Is better than beating one fighter than belt chasing the right opponents.

Calzaghe still has done more and Hatton's not close.

Hopkins was just a money fight.

 

The headliner isn't a great fight but it may be a decent card all in all. Spending 15 quid isn't going to send me to the poor house anytime soon so I'll probably buy it.

 

You can't bring talent into it. Let's assume you're right and Calzaghe is more talented. Hatton obviously makes up for this lack of talent in other departments. It's all reflected in the results and that's what we're comparing.

Hattons best wins

1. Kostya Tyszu - Hugely significant win. Very impressive against an atg at the weight. Top 3 p4p at the time, revisionists have since picked at the win but for me it remains a highly laudable achievement.

2. Jose Luis Castillo - Revisonists again. Very good fighter at his peak and just a few fights removed from a fantastic victory against Diego Corrales which many seem to ignore. Never before beaten as brutally as Hatton did it.

3. Luis Collazo - Underrated win against a very competent fighter at 147. Hatton did take this for me in a close but clear fashion.

4. Ben Tackie - Good gatekeeper in the division. Hatton showed his often underrated boxing skills in this fight and finally began to make an impact on the world stage with this win. Good result.

5. Ray Oliveria - Hatton the first to stop this very talented fighter. Very impressive win.

Calzaghes best wins

1. Mikkel Kessler - Young, double world champion. Undefeated with a very good resume no matter what the haters say in the context of the talent at 168. Calzaghe beat a guy who had hardly lost a round in his career convincingly. The heir apparent was not allowed to ascend to the throne.

2. Bernard Hopkins - LHW king pin and top 5 all time MW. P4P number 4 on most peoples lists, this is a guy who arguably hadn't lost since 1992 and never gave anyone an easy fight. JC went over to the Americans back yard and became the widely regarded man at his 2nd weight. Very good indeed.

3. Jeff Lacy - Undefeated world champion. Had flattened notables such as Vanderpool, the iron jawed Reid and Pemberton. Calzaghe decimated this guy in brutal fashion. A boxing clinic.

4. Chris Eubank - Very good fighter. British legend. Past his prime yes but still a very good win for Calzaghe.

5. Reid, Mitchell, Woodhall. (All former world champs or else Sheika, Veit or some other prospect take your pick)

You see, a strong argument can be posted that Hatton has the biggest singular win in Zoo but its still a contentious won given the manner of the victory. But your reaching when you list Hattons wins...you find yourself reaching because his resume lacks depth.

Calzaghes clearly has more depth with 4 very big wins against Kessler, Hopkins, Eubank and Lacy. Yes you can critique it like that idiot Sleaze Nation has before but I showed you could do that to Hattons to still more devastating effect. Furthermore, Calzaghe has beaten world champions such as Reid, Mitchell and Woodhall with some spoilers such as Bika and also prospects like Veit and Sheika for good measure.

Hatton lacks this depth. Outside of the wins I mentioned your reduced to names like Maussa, a decrepit Phillips and perhaps Eamon Magee. His resume simply isn't deep enough to compete with Calzaghes.

Conclusion: Calzaghe is Britains finest boxer.

 

Ricky is such a nice lad and he's putting it on at a decent time in the evening for all the fans because he wants to repay them and not make them stay up until 2 or 3 am like that naughty Calzaghe. Plus, Ray Hatton wants a new bungalow so hand over the cash NOOOOOOOOOOOWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
