Why? Cos I was hoping to see the arrogant showboating egomaniac KTFO, thats why to be honest.

Joe & his da, pair of horrible ****s. Simple as that. What a gruesome twosome. Sadly for me though, Joe looks like hes going to retire on this win, & I will need to listen forever more to his da spouting about how unbelievably unbelievable his son was as a fighter & how he was unbeatably unbeatable.
Now I can handle the bandwagon jumpers & the nuthuggers tell us all how this win is so great blah blah... But its that smug wee horrible da of his...
All cos Joe got a points win over a RJJ who was just happy to pick up one last fat paycheque.

Yup, Im hurting. Hurting cos Joe will retire without ever facing an elite fighter in his prime & get his arse licked endlessly by boxing fans who really should know better & not defend this bull**** matchmaking.

Hatton took more pelters than anyone for fighting a past his prime Tszyu, but to give him credit, he was brave enough to go overseas & fight a prime elite fighter. Joe has never done that. Never will, but rides off into the sunset with his da screaming that Joe showed 'em all!!!

    You couldnt make it up...

Cheers Jonoli, its nice to know at least someone can see this fight for what it was, in fact the result was such foregone conclusion that Buncey pretented to be frightened about Joe doing the weight wrong, just to try & inject a bit of drama into proceedings, thats how apathetic the masses were about this.
You know its gonna be bad when Setantas no1 boxing man has to come out with untrue weightmaking stories just to try & get people saying "what if"

Lets see how Calzaghes chin stands up to a hungry fighter who isnt in his 40's, thats what I preach.

Bitter? ****in right I am. But with good reason.

Who do you think beats him at the moment Dunky out of the fighters who have not faced him?

Does it matter who I think beats him?

Joe is riding into the sunset as we speak, with his 0 intact & RJJ's name on his resume.
Maybe if Joe says hes going to have one last fight, then we can talk about this.

Until then though, Joes done a highwayman on us all & hs robbed us of ever seeing him in a Hatton-Mayweatheresque fight as he & his old da's laughter echoes into the distance...

Dunky, come on now. You know I admire your passion as a boxing fan, and you have everyright to your opinion but I remember in the days leading up to the Kessler bout you were awe struck having watched footage of the Viking Warrior in action and were asserting that JC would have to pull something magical out of the hat to defeat such a fine speciman in his prime....

He did that, and I think he deserves more credit than many people give him post fight for that win. People criticise Kesslers opposition, but the man was a unified World Champion for goodness sake that had barely lost a round up until that point! I think Calzaghe deserves huge credit for convincingly ending that aura of invulenrability which Kessler at the time had around him...

Dunky, I have to admit once again I'm very much with you on this one (maybe it comes with being slightly "older"), but I won't make a habit of it as I'm sure we will be very much disagreeing soon!

A side note not to do with anything really, apologies, it's taken a long while, months in fact, but I've just remembered what the British equivalent term of what "fan boy" is; "Hero worship"!

Guilty as charged! I have never hidden the fact though that I thought Joe beating Kessler was a magnificent result, & still do. You wont hear me backtracking on that one.
It was a close fight, & Joe was almost put to sleep twice in the fight, but he showed his champions heart & got the W. Calzaghes best win IMO.
However, thats only MY opinion, as I rate Kessler very highly. However, Kessler hasnt proved it where it matters yet, over in the good 'ol US of A.
At this juncture in time, Kessler is still 'just' a eurofighter until he gets a defining win himself. Its not right, but thats the way it is. IMO, Kessler will get that big win if he gets the chance & Calzaghes stock will rise once again.

However, thats just my opinion, & I have been wrong before about fighters. Not even I am perfect!

Im just not falling for all the claims that Joe has 'nothing left to prove' cos he beat an old creaking Jones who was only there to survive & bost his pension fund.

Remember, I have been following boxing since the days RJJ was untouchable, & it saddens me greatly to see Joe beat that shell of a former great & claim hes done it all.

It wasnt quite as bad as Holmes-Ali, but it wasnt that far away from a freakish spectacle in my eyes. If Jones hadnt got lucky with a forearm smash in the first, that fight would have been up there with Chavez-De la Hoya etc as watch through the fingers mismatch boxing as a champ bullies an old man on his way to a big payday.

Sorry, but I cannot & will not accept Joe deserves to be looked upon in a better light than he is already for beating this version of Roy Jones Junior.

Man, next you will be writing BOO! HISS! when you see me posting Fluxstuff. Get over yourself. Its all about opinions, & cos mine clashes with yours doesnt mean Im the bad guy.
It just means we see things from a different angle sometimes. So please, less character assasination & more boxing debate next time we speak.

    Thats IF we speak again:D

Nice post Dunky, I feel myself that Calzaghe has a very good resume when studied analytically but I agree with your sentiments about Kessler and RJJ...the former has yet to prove himself in the eyes of the yanks (though I'm sure it will come) and the latter was shot to pieces as you say...I've already expressed my sadness at watching 'Superman' Roy being reduced to a mere mortal, and cut and battered by a younger, now more able fighter.

That win doesn't enhance JC's legacy greatly at all, I agree with you totally there. I just think Calzaghe is a fine fighter that has achieved alot, and has got some very nice wins that deserve to be acknowledged.

    Thanks Beastboxer.

& you are quite right to praise Calzaghe, hes the best these shores will produce for years to come. I dont like the guy, but I am still man enough to admit hes the man on these shores in this era. & it pains me to say it greatly.
I suppose its cos I have always believed he likes fighting past their prime fighters.
Eubank for instance. His first big win, but Eubank had to kill himself to drop down two weights just to earn a final big payday, & it always sticks n my throat that Calzaghe claims Eubank as one of his greatest ever wins when Eubank was shot, & forced to burn off a ridiculous amount of weight to share a ring with Joe, & even then Eubank still nearly won!

Thats always rankled with me, & that should help explain my bitterness towards the man somewhat. JC & his old man are as fly as they come to coin an old phrase.
