    Anyone know?

Seems he's picked the far harder fight

Some clause in the contracts that Adonis wouldnt accept?

    The race thing?

Sees something in Kovs game that he feels he can exploit?

I assume its ego. He wants to beat the best.

I give him credit for taking this fight!

Haymon controls Stevenson, he was trying to drag out the negotiations with Hopkins to the point where Hopkins would have to drop the belt if he didn't let the sanctioning body know who he was going to fight next by a certain date. If Hopkins dropped the belt two of Haymons guys would fight for the vacant strap meaning Haymon's guy gets the belt no matter who wins the fight, he had both of them!. Hopkins saw this may happen so he did the Kovalev fight which left Haymon twisting in the wind with nothing.

He did it to spite haymon. It's Bernard's only saving grace.

if you google "hopkins kovalev negotiatons" it'll show you a link to an article on the scene. Haymon was trying to make sure he had both of his guys fighting for the belt Hopkins currently holds

    Either
    A: His pride
B: He see's something in Kovalev that he can abuse/exploit.

Because stylistically he is much better off fighting Kovalev. Handspeed troubles Hopkins a lot more than just raw power, and southpaws with fast hands have been Hopkins kryptonite in the past.

Hopkins will beat Sergey but lose to Stevenson

Because Stevenson is a lot faster. And Hopkins can´t deal with that much speed at this point. Every fighter he has lost to, have speed as their biggest weapon.

Can we stop pretending Stevenson is some kind of monster please

Dude was dropped by Bellew, and went life and death with Fonfara, who would've knocked him out if he was more aggressive

Styles make fights. Kovalev was dropped by Caparello and went life and death with Darnell Boone, is he not a monster?

Hopkins did this because Espinoza, schaefer and haymon were using him and setting him up. Although it took a long time hopkins finally seen this and gave them all the finger.
