Well Hopkins was offered the fight about 5 years earlier and priced himself out even though a career high purse was already on the table. Calzaghe beat him and didn't want to give an arogent racist a second chance. People saying Joe ducked Pavlik want to remember that he didn't confirm his retirement until after Pavlik lost to B-Hop, maintaining until then that he might have another fight.

The funny thing is, like Jones and Holyfield, Slappy White will be back to get more coke money, and when he does we'll get to see the real Joe Calzaghe minus the hand holding and bogus timed matches.
I predict that Joe will announce and try to ease in a comeback in 2012. Probably against a blind Kessler or a half dead Roy Jones.

No need for a rematch, the fight was awful to watch. Hopkins was lucky Cortez let him hold and use the head like he did, many others wouldnt allow that.
Calzaghe beat Hopkins in America with 3 American judges and Cortez as ref in a new weight division for him, scoring the single highest card against Hopkins ever, sandwiched between Hopkins best wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik.
Also why should Calzaghe do Hopkins any favours when it is known fact that Hopkins ducked Calzaghe for years and turned the fight down against Calzaghe years ago.

If you had of wanted a rematch blame Hopkins for ducking Calzaghe years ago as Calzaghe would have beaten Hopkins years ago at SMW, Hopkins could have continued then beating blown up lighter fighters at MW, then would have gone up to LHW where Calzaghe would have gone up and done the double on Hopkins
