Whyte proved that he does have some power the way he put Parker down, however, the knockout of Browne meant nothing. I would argue whether Browne was fit enough to take part in that fight having been knocked spark out by Chisora in sparring. Had he been sparked in a fight he would have served a month suspension.

I agree with you that Whyte has improved, but I disagree that it’s more so than Joshua. The latter has gone on to become world champion, beating the likes of Klitschko, Povetkin and got a 118-110 (twice) 119-109 wide decision against Parker. Whyte on otherhand almost got stopped, and had the knockdown in the 2nd round been correctly judged to be a head butt, he could have lost that fight. He went life and death with Chisora (the right result would have arguably been a draw). He was in a stinker with Helenius, and struggled to put away ‘part time attitude’ fighters Allen and Lewison.

I have no problem with Whyte getting a world title shot. I believe he is a right handful, with a huge heart, is quite savvy and will do anything it takes to win. However, he’s not on the same page as Joshua imo.

In my opinion, I don't like your opinion.

It's about classification. The Browne KO is utterly meaningless to me given how terrible he looked but dropping Parker was something. He isn't a featherfist but I wouldn't personally call him a puncher and I say that in the sense that I feel confident that Chisora sees the final bell every time they fight, for example.
He has improved, no doubt. But AJ has tightened himself up and is himself coming off of his 2nd best win.

Browne came into the ring in the same shape he always has and most on here expected him to beat Whyte. If sparring stories are to be believed then AJ gets dropped more regularly than a plate in a Greek restaurant but still performs on the night. Whyte dropped Tyson loads of times in sparring. Does that mean that he is so much better than Tyson or does it just mean it was sparring?

AJ has clearly improved since the Whyte fight but Whyte has improved more. You mention the Allen and Lewison fights but let’s not forget that he had just had major surgery on his shoulder for the injury that he went into the AJ fight with. Helenius ran away just trying to survive because he simply didn’t want to get hurt. Whyte could have cut down the ring better against him.

People are happy to make excuses for Hughie going into a fight having had a cut a month before but ignore Whyte needing cortisone injections into a bust shoulder days before the AJ fight which he needed an operation on straight after the fight. His left hook is his best shot and this is now coming back.

Whyte clearly beat Parker but not as clearly as AJ did. Whyte wasn’t as disciplined as he should have been and really didn’t need to go looking for the stoppage in the 12th when he was clearly ahead and gassing. He needs to learn from that and had he been smarter in the last few rounds and stayed behind his jab then the scores would have been a lot wider.

Whyte wasn’t on the same chapter as AJ in their first fight and aside from being injured he was poorly prepared and very out of shape. If they fight again they will be on the same paragraph with AJ still slightly ahead. I’d much rather see the rematch than watch AJ vs Miller, Pulev, Kownacki etc.

Whyte should stop Chisora this time but I agree that AJ is much tighter now.

You know what, after I typed that I remember thinking that Takam was close to getting Chisora out of there at one stage. I was pretty drunk so maybe it seemed worse than what it was but if Chisora's punch resistance has gotten worse then sustained pressure could bring a stoppage

I’ve not heard anything about Whyte dropping Tyson ‘loads of times’ in sparring, but my point was that getting knocked out in sparring is no different to getting knocked out in a real fight. There should be a suspension instead of it getting brushed under carpet. Browne was in no fit state to fight Whyte...i’m talking neurologically.

I take your other points on board, mate.

What are you going to do when Wilder gets knocked out?
