Would be a funny build up, a rough and tumble fight for Wilder wherein he prob has a few tough moments on the way to a highlight reel KO win.

Sets up the Joshua fight nicely and gets Wilder a decent payday whilst soaring us a tedious Joshua Whyte rematch. What's not to like?

I doubt Whyte actually gives a ****, his priorities don't seem to be the title, rather taking easier fights to keep his strange PPV run going

If that's the case so be it. He should be given the chance to prove otherwise though.

The WBC are an embarrassing joke these days and I'm not just talking about at heavy. The wilder fans want to call it the most prestigious of the belts I feel it is more likely the most tainted of the belts. Al haymon doesn't want whyte to be mando so the WBC make it happen.
Next WBC mando will be areolla or somebody who jumps back in to the top 15 based on the fact he went to the toilet and he googled some porn or something.

Exactly. Whatever you think of Whyte's skills or his chances against Wilder he's a great self-promoter and is guaranteed to give it his all for however long the fight lasts. And considering how highly rated he is right now it reignites interest in the Joshua fight if Wilder smashes him. Really no downsides at all, except for the possibility that Wilder could lose of course.

Helenius, Browne, Parker, Chisora and Rivas back to back is one of the toughest lineups any HW's had in a while. Only AJ with Wlad, Parker, Takam and Povetkin can claim a better one right now.

Even if that's the case and everything you claim comes true, plenty of people believe otherwise, enough to make the fight more than just a formality. It's way more interesting than any of the opponents Wilder's got lined up for the coming year, at any rate.

What exactly are you so reticent about anyway? Either a loudmouth upstart gets smashed, or we see a great fight. Seems win win to me.

Doesn't make it good though does it? Helenius is terrible, Browne is terrible, Parker hasn't looked good from fringe world level to world title (i.e v Takam, Ruiz, AJ, Whyte etc) and Whyte still needed a head clash to get the win, Chisora doesn't mean anything to his world level "ambitions", and Rivas is tiny in comparison to Whyte, has eye troubles and was being beaten up Jennings prior to the KO.

Why are you so invested in Dillian Whyte? He seems to be the only boxer you ever seem to post about? I'm just interested to know; what's the attraction?

You can't compare the two. One has been gift wrapped a paper belt while almost exclusively fighting bums while the other is beltless but fights the best available opponent fight after fight. I actually can't remember a fighter who has continually taken dangerous fight after dangerous fight with a title shot so imminent.

Whyte vs Rivas is the most absurd PPV fight in years. I do know Matchroom are committed to providing Sky with 6 PPV shows per year, and if you dig a little deeper into their roster of boxers it's lacking depth and quality in terms of PPV, so they struggle to fulfill that obligation each year. I guess that's why they keep Whyte onboard - despite not liking him much - and away from a title shot either against AJ, which would end his PPV appeal or Wilder because that would be stateside and in the early hours of the morning UK time and not PPV-worthy.

But Whyte vs Rivas? More people will be paying to watch Allen vs Price...

Spot on, fully agree. I thought they were only making it PPV because they were putting on a huge undercard, but they've already said that isn't happening anymore.

There’s no way I’m paying PPV for Whyte vs Rivas, thought this would be on standard sky sports.
