So Wilder will be the lineal champion when he wins in a few weeks?

Then we need another new lineage. Tyson Fury doesnt deserve it for beating Wladimir alone, not without a decent body of work behind him, another great performance or atleast defense of the belts, not to mention being drug busted and retired. Deontay Wilder doesnt deserve to be Lineal for beating Tyson Fury alone, his resume is shocking, theres no decent body of work there either. And Anthony Joshua, who should have the biggest claim to being Lineal cant be called it while Fury and Wilder are still there.

No we don't. Fury became lineal champ by beating the man. If you beat the man, you are the man.

Jesus wept! I can't believe anyone could be so stupid!!!

So what, Einstein, makes Klitschko "the reigning world champ"? As opposed to "a reigning titlist"? If you go back far enough, all of the titles he held originated from a belt that was originally vacant. He may have held three belts, however, at no point was he ever undisputed, i.e. the only party with a legitimate claim to championship status. Which is how you establish yourself as the nonsensical 'linear' champ to start with. At every point of his reign, there was a competing claim. But no, let's just decide that one non-undisputed guy is this mythical 'linear' champ because you think it might support your nonsensical argument of your hero deserving FOTY over Usyk (LMFAO!!!) Klitschko did not have an uncontested claim and nor did he have man-who-beat-the-man status. Was he a champion, yes, a very good one, yes. An uncontested one, no!

Why don't you grow a f*cking brain? I don't give two hoots about Anthony Joshua. My first post on this thread, where I stated that the whole idea was nonsensical was actually about Golovkin and Canelo. That was the fight that really made a mockery of the whole idea. I have been watching the sport for three decades and it has only been over the last few years that misguided fanboys like yourself have started throwing the 'lineal' argument at every fighter Ring magazine lists as champions in a misguided attempt to make your hero out to be something he is not! Before then, it was generally recognised that you had to unify all of the major belts to start a new lineage. But then you sound like you've only been watching the sport since Wilder turned pro so you probably wouldn't know that.

I, like a number of other people on this thread and the one about Usyk being FOTY, have simply been sucked in by your constant electronic ****-sucking of Wilder and desire to pick an argument with anybody who doesn't think he's the greatest thing that ever walked the earth!!!

Are you really this ****ing thick? John Ruiz didn't beat a champ did he to win the vacant WBA belt again Rahman? Which subsequently went to Klitschko via Valuev and Haye? Nor did Lamon Brewster when he won the vacant WBO belt by beating Klitschko himself and it subsequently went via Liakhovich, Briggs and Ibragimov to Klitschko himself. Neither did Chris Byrd when he won the vacant IBF title from Holyfield, which he subsequently lost to Klitschko. Non of these guys ever beat a champ to win their belts. None of these guys ever beat a defending champ.

So when the titles were stripped from Lewis or vacated and fragmented then all a fighter had to do was to put together a good run of fights to become considered 'lineal'. But when they were stripped from Fury, who may well have been on drugs when he won them, then suddenly putting together the outstanding resume in the division isn't a factor and it's all about beating a coked-up shell of a fighter?

I honestly think if you had a dog you'd end up sticking your **** in it! You don't seem to have the intelligence to do anything else. Go have a wank over your Wilder bedsheet, there's a good boy!!!

Save the response because I won't be reading. There are only so many demented nuthugger ****** rambings your eyes can take

You are genuinely thick as ****! Lineage was broken by Lewis. Precisely. And the whole thing has simply been a big mish-mash of split titles and claims since. There has been nobody with an unrivalled claim at any point. But, as per the Golovkin-Canelo thing, what this board is cursed with is a load of deluded fanboy muppets trying to argue that this imaginary status actually means anything more than the above.

People who don't believe in the lineal heavyweight championship are boxing atheists. They don't believe in anything.

Not Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy.

The lineal heavyweight championship of the world is for true believers.

Technically Lennox Lewis is still the linael heavyweight champion of the world, no one has ever taken it from him, no Klitschko, no Fury. That means Lennox Lewis is the best fighter in the world today, and deserves a 60/40 split in his favour.

If you can trace Fury's linage back to first heavyweight champion then I have no choice but to agree with you but if you can't then some fighter had to start a new linage and he is not the only one.

Lineal champ means he is the great great grandson of John L Sullivan.
