Hammer very underrated fighter. Easily went 12 rounds with Povetkin. Showed nice skills against Teper and handily outboxed him. Took a monstrous uppercut from Price and got up to beat him. Only KO'ed once by roided 6'7 monster Wach early in his career. Recently destroyed undefeated prospect Michael Wallisch. Ortiz is in a tough fight and if he manages to stop Hammer that's a helluva statement that propels the old man to top-4 rankings.

If Hammer shows as little ambition as he did against Povetkin it will be difficult to put him away. Almost as difficult for the folks watching on. The psychiatric units in Ekaterinburg are still coping with the aftermath. Several fans blinded themselves, one man became convinced that Hammer was an actual Golem made of clay and it's rumoured that the referee has since declared himself Emperor of China and had to be confined to a dacha for his own protection.

If Hammer comes to fight: Ortiz KO.
If Hammer comes to run like Kauffman in his last fight: Probably UD.

Hammer is pretty durable. I am laughing about everyone who is comparing Ortiz and Whyte here and mocking Ortiz for fighting Hammer. LMAO. Hammer is a better opponent than Chisora and Browne.

Maybe better than Browne who looked shot vs Whyte, don't think he's better than Chisora, similar level but Chisora is better. Both stopped by Fury though Fury stopped Hammer earlier and both fought Johnson but Chisora stopped him while Hammer went the distance. Think Chisora also has the better resume in general and is more respected because he's fought at a higher level more consistently.

If you compare them and their recent fights (last 2-3 years) what do you see?

Hammer beating Price, Teper and Wallisch.
Chisora beating Takam, Azzouzi and Janjanin.

Chisora was beaten fair and square by Kabayel and Pulev (bull**** Split decision, Pulev won that clear via UD). Hammer was beaten fair and square by Povetkin.

Chisora is overrated in here. First thing is he looked shot vs. Takam lost almost every round till the lucky punch KO. KO and comeback of the year in the public, then he gets the Whyte rematch. He had two very good and competitive matches with Dillian Whyte. That does actually mean a **** in my opinion. Whyte is overrated.

Hammer right now is definitely the fighter who has beaten the better opponents and so he should be at least named on the same level like Chisora.

Laughing about Hammer as an opponent and saying Whyte is fighting strong opponents is a JOKE.

Hammer vs. Chisora right now would be a pick em fight where i would favor Hammer slightly.

Ortiz last 4 opponents: Hammer, Kauffman, Cojanu, Wilder
Whyte last 4 opponents: Chisora, Parker, Browne, Helenius

I do not see a bigg difference tbh. Hammer = Chisora. Cojanu = Helenius. Wilder > Parker. Browne = Kauffman. Arguably Helenius is a bit better than Cojanu but otherwise i do not see any difference in here so STFU if you say Ortiz is fighting bums and Whyte is fighting strong opponents. Bull**** it is.

If Hammer beats Ortiz then Ortiz should retire. Won't happen anyway. You know a **** about Ortiz and his skills so i can understand your question. He's old.

nah, Christian Hammer is tough as nails. He went the distance with Povetkin. this is a 50/50 fight. Lets not forget that Ortiz is turning 58 next month!! he's not getting any younger.

Like how you picked the last 3 opponents for Chisora/Hammer comparison then changed it to 4 fights for the Ortiz/Whyte comparison so you could squeezed in the Wilder win so Ortiz opposition didn't look so bad. Nice changing of the goal posts to your point of view.

I don't disagree with you, there's not a huge difference between Hammer and Chisora right now, but Chisora is better as an opponent simply because overall he's a bigger name. He's fought more big names and had more big fights and overall had the far better career. When people see Hammer on a fighters resume they see a journeymen while when they see Chisora they see a name they recognise that's been tested time and again at the top level. It's about perception, Kabayel would be a better win right now than Chisora as he beat Chisora but do you think people wouldn't chit on Ortiz or Whyte for fighting him yet applaud them for choosing to fight Chisora?

Ortiz seems content on just boxing. I figure he likes the slow pace, for obvious reasons.
Ortiz had no problems boxing with Allen, Kauffman nor Scuba Scott.

I figure Ortiz will catch Hammer because Hammer will try and take advantage of the slow pace. I think Ortiz's slow pace will make Hammer a tad bit more aggressive and Ortiz will find an opening.

Won't happen, Hammer showed vs Povetkin he doesn't have the hunger or belief to win at that level, Chisora in contrasts when fit always gives it his all, even out of shape he tries. Hammer will show up to just show up, Chisora will show up and go out on his shield.

Wasn’t king kong who turned down the Joyce fight.

He’s rebuilding after losing a fight by ko, but he needs to get a move due to his age though.

On the thread starters question it’s a tough one ortiz doesn’t usually look good against punching bags he’s a vicious counter puncher he needs his opponents to let there hands go to ice them and hammer is brillant at fighting to survive so it will go late wouldn’t be surprised if it goes the distance.

How much would this put Fury's stock up if Ortiz can't stop Hammer?
