I'm hoping to head over to Calzaghe vs Jones too, where did you guys get your tickets and how much were they if you don't mind me asking?

Whatever will be said about the match-up, this is possibly the last fight from Joe and RJJ (Who happens to be my favourite ever fighter) so I'm gonna do what I can to see the fight.

I got my ticket through www.ticketmaster.com I signed up with www.madisonsquaregarden.com to be alerted as to when the tickets went on sale. Last Thursday night I got a email from MSG saying that there was going to be a pre-sale starting at 10am EST on Friday 8/15. So I got my ticket! $250. MSG is a great place to see a fight though, so I don't think there are really any bad seats in the house!

Not got anything sorted yet, I know a nice cheap hotel in New Jersey, I may opt for that as it's a 15 minute bus-trip from the front door into the port authority in Manhattan.

Doyley might be able to sort out some flights, either that or I'll look for a connecting flight from Ireland, that can sometimes be cheaper than a direct flight from Glasgow.

You got anything sorted yourself yet?

Try and get into the Pennsylvania Hotel, its nothing fancy but its clean, cheap (or was in 1995) and overlooks MSG.

Its a nice place Reilly, a couple of bars on the ground floor, literally a 2 minute walk to the Garden and a great Irish bar next door (Barney Rocks IIRC).

I had a look a look at the Pennsylvania just there, it's a bit too expensive for me, it's almost double the price of the place in NJ. If I could find somewhere comparable in price in Manhattan, I'd go for it for the handiness of the thing.

I can get 7 nights at the Meadowlands for about £480 all in, the bus trip in to town's only $5-10 from what I remember, can be a bit of a c##t gettin a taxi back at night but other than that it's fine.

I don't think you can get a better deal in downtown Manhattan, everything else I looked at was either out of town or really expensive. I know New Jersey etc is a bit cheaper but we didn't fancy having to get a taxi every day when you are only there for 3 or 4 days? We just wanted to be where everything is happening and soak in the big fight atmosphere.

Can't say that I can recommend the Pennsylvania. I stayed there in 2004 (I think that was the year) when I went to the Felix Trinidad/Ricardo Mayorga fight.

There was blood on the walls of my room.........

And holes in the rug and mold in the tub.

This hotel doesn't look too bad, its right by MSG and I think it is around the same price as the Pennsylvania:
