So would we say that Povetkin is an ATG at this point?

He has never won a legit title, but now adds the "WBC interum" championship to the "WBA regular" crown.

But there are guys who have gotten there before without outright winning the belt, like Joe Chonyski, who drew and NCd three champs, and knocked out a fourth, or Ken Norton who was given one in a board room.

Povetkin now has a career resume that is far better than most "champions," and includes wins over:

    Chris Byrd
    Ruslan Chagaev
    Hasim Rahmen
    Eddie Chambers
    Marco Huck
    Dillon Whyte
    Hugh Fury
    David Price
    Christian Hammer
    Johann Duhapuas
    Mariuz Wach
    Mike Perez
    Carlos Takam
    Manuel Charr
    Cedrick Boswell
    Larry Donald
    Andrzej Warzyck
    Andrey Rudenko
    Imamu Mayfield
    Friday Ahunanya
    Richard Bango

Against only the two defeats to Wladimir Kiltschko and Anthony Joshua. That is an awesome career. Don't forget to vote.

Hes certainly going to be one of the greatest heavyweights never to win a LEGIT world title that's for sure. What a run of opposition..

    Great amateur fighter too.

Come on mate how many of them were champions? How many were for titles? There’s no argument that ends with him being an atg

How many 40+ year-olds have managed to pull a win like that out of the bag? That's a measure of him.. it's not like he has one of those styles that was meant to age well either.. he's always been a front foot fairly aggressive fighter.. spanned two eras too & been near the top of the tree in both

Narrowly misses it, he had lots of decent wins, his win against Whyte as an old 41 year old workhorse in the twilight of his career is a great story, and his skills are far up there, easily one of the best combination punchers in recent HW boxing history. But he just didn't do enough in his career, he never had a big win or moment, or proved he was THE MAN. He was always an extremely dedicated, hard working, talented fighter, but he was just never THE fighter.

Doesn't mean I haven't been rooting for him in basically every fight he's been in sans his one vs Wlad

I said journey men and I was referring to pretty much all of his opponents apart from the ones he lost it’s not a terrible resume but it’s not going to elevate a fighter with no legitimate world title to atg status.

Povetkin is underated in his career. If povetkin was younger he would have kod AJ and Wilder and would win a close unanimous decision against fury.
