Imagine Saturday's Hopkins vs Lockett!:rofl Seriously, how long - in seconds - would Lockett have lasted? I say 45!
Nah, Pavlik sucks not he just happened to ran into an atg while self not quite in his prime. I think Pavlik can go on to become a very good fighter himself.
Dump post. Hopkins has never been as aggressive as Pavlik and only if Lockett came to him would he have stopped him in three rounds. Repeat this: "Styles make fights". Say it again. Memorize it.
With the agression Hopkins showed on the weekend coupled with his style of fighting I can't see the rigid Lockett doing any better than Pavlik. I think he'd have been chopped down within a round, 2 rounds at most easy. Pavlik didn't even land any liver shots on Lockett as I remember - the punches Pavlik took early would have taken a lesser boxer.
I don't think anyone really believes Pavlik sucks - they just find it hard to deal with his lost. The kid is a damn good fighter - B-Hop is just better. If it's hard to for them to realize that - **** em!
You mean 'Insight'? :tong You know its funny that someone mentioned the Johnson fight. That has to be one of Hopkins' most underated wins imho - Johnson even then was a good boxer and a big threat even though he clearly hadn't peacked but then again neither had Bernard; the way Hopkins broke him down was very impressive indeed. No one has done that to Johnson since.
imagine: imagination reasoning thought maturity substance originality personality objectivity etc etc just try.
Hopkins/Calzaghe was a bloody awful performance by both guys. I think Pavlik looked at that and assumed he could walk right through BHop. Ironically -- If BHop would have fought KP the way he did Calzaghe, Pavlik would have beat seven shades of **** out of Hopkins. Clearly Hopkins is much smarter than that, and has a lot more gas left in the tank than many of us thought he did.
Another example right there that Hopkins' power is underrated. Hopkins would have KO'd Lockett within a few rounds, Pavlik was rocked from a single punch in the 2nd round against Hopkins and Pavlik has a good chin, I'd hate to see how Lockett would have reacted.
Pavlik was in his prime, stop the excuses. He did have to move up in weight though, only half a division from where he was.
Based on wins over Miranda and twice over Taylor,Pavlik's performance was awful.Weight had **** all to do with it.He was outskilled and outsmarted.
