First up:

Keith "Danger" Carson versus ..somebody, missed the name, 3x3" rounds (MMA)

 

...and yes, the 'main event' of this card is a couple of featherweights making their mutual pro debut in a 4-rounder.

I say low-level, believe it...

 

Austin Warren Anthony Brooks vs. Francisco Javier Navarro del Real, 4 rounds @ featherweight

 

Pair of fast aggressive southpaws.

 

10-9 Brooks, a little sharper offensively, but they're both getting hit with dumb-dumb stuff..

 

...close, I'll say Brooks, 20-18.

 

They swap big right hooks to answer the bell for R3. Navarro keeps lunging in with over-extended and telegraphed jabs at the chest and then lobbing up lefts at the head, then pulling straight backward predictably, allowing Brooks to counter him at will. A few clubbing rights by Navarro surprise Brooks and get him to circle faster, but none land flush enough to make a big impact. Left hand leads used as jabs while navigating in tight spirals on the inside, setting up combos for Brooks.

Navarro comes out gangbusters and it pays early dividends as he baits his opponent into a hooking brawl inside and touches Brooks a few times, but he soon counts the cost as he is badly hurt twice in the first minute of the final round - first by a left hand lead on the body that knocks him back a few steps, then by a right hook on the chin as they're stepping together. Brooks pours it on and has Navarro staggering from another right hook, and the ref catches him mid-reel and waves it off.

TKO4!!!

 

There's....raw potential there, anyway. Call it a successful debut...although Brooks' team has lots to recap in the war-room...
