Soccer kicks and stomps. Would they add to the UFC's appeal, or detract from it?

If you could bring soccer kicks and stomps back to the UFC, would you do it?

Would it be a good move for the sport? Would it make for more exciting fights, separate the men from the boys, or would it create a backlash that would significantly damage the image and mass appeal of the sport? :think

I love them as much as anyone, and no doubt it makes for more exciting and (dare I say) realistic fights, but to the average/casual/ignorant fan it looks atrocious.

    Overall bad for the sport.

    Knees on the ground, however....

  8. no way! i think they are both disgusting and look thuggish. they can inflict far too much damage to a person's head and face.
they could sometimes cause a fighter to be off injured between fights for a lot longer than if they weren't allowed.

its the type of thing that anti-mma critics would love to see.
imo there has to be some rules in fighting, so i don't want them back. or headbutts either.

This. Fruitless to even discuss now as they're not part of the unified rules and they're NEVER coming back to Western MMA.

You need to watch PRIDE b. None of your highlighted statement is valid as that never occured in ANY PRIDE fight.

  11. i would of thought that kicking someone's head like a ball would cause more damage than a punch? a kick is more powerful than a punch, isn't it?

For me, add significantly. PRIDE was in my opinion more exciting because with stomps, soccer kicks, and grounded knees there weren't any safe positions to stall from. It would, however, detract for the mainstream that would just find it heinous to see someone getting stomped out.

Maybe I will. When is the next Pride event being held, and who is headlining?

I would love both to come back as a purist but it hurt the sport I love too much and no mainstream fan could see any skill or technique in kicking someone in the head when they are down.
