In the social groups section, I have set-up a new group called Canadian Amateur Boxing available to all past and present members of Canadian Amateur Boxing. If we in Canada are to reach the peak of International boxing of 1984 and 1988,, there must be a greater understanding of our past and open communication by past, present and future members. To use a recent phrase "YES WE CAN!" We can no longer sit on the sidelines and accept the example of only one Canadian amateur boxer participating in an Olympic Games as was the case in 2008. We must remember the gradual improvements over the years that led to excellent performances in 1984 and 1988. We may not have a current Lennox Lewis training for 2012, but we must rethink our goals and opportunities and rebuild from the junior boxing program to the senior open competitors. Canadian amateur boxing in each province must expand the opportunities and experience by participating in USA Golden Gloves tournaments and inviting more USA boxers to compete in Canadian boxing tournaments such as the annual B C Golden Gloves.:happy:bbb:good
Hopefully, this thread and the Canadian Amateur Boxing social group will provide a one-two punch that will help with a major growth in Canadian boxing that will benefit amateur boxing in general. We may not have a large team for London in 2012, but we must try!
