Between them just three stoppages in 21 bouts.

 

"Spider" Konki punching himself in the face and trying to get the crowd pumped up as he answers the bell for the twelfth. He must think it is all on the line here, coming out determined. "Latigo" Pérez in contrast staying calm, and working in with body jabs as I've seen him do since the 9th round, until Konki baits him into wide slapping dust-ups.

 

Both think they won as the scorecards are read out. UD...scores announced in French...

Came in just 8-0. He captured the vacant French bantamweight title at just 4-0 and has made three defenses before this challenge of Pérez.

 

Lest you think Mendy in the main event is taking on an egregiously soft touch in 37 year old (and 73 looking ) Parra, know that both of the Venezuelan's losses came against world titlists (Darleys Pérez and Takashi Uchiyama) - plus he boasts a few upset kayos, and is coming off popping the cherry of Marcos René Maidana's kid brother Fabián Andrés "T.N.T." Maidana.

 

Christian M'Billi-Assomo Hallier vs. KeAndrae Leatherwood, 8 rounds @ super middleweight

 

This has the makings of a tailor-made demolition job for M'Billi.

Leatherwood - from Tuscaloosa, like friend/promoter Deontay Wilder - has lost in not only his biggest steps up (knocked out by Caleb Truax, shut out by Andy Lee) but also has a lopsided decision loss to infamous GGG cherry-pick Steve Rolls, and was very embarrassingly knocked out by losing-record journeyman Taronze Washington (but did avenge it by UD in a 6-round rematch just two months later)

 

M'Billi with strong jabs backing Leatherwood up and shredding the body on the front-foot. Leatherwood actually hanging in there decently well, not letting M'Billi fully steam-roll him, getting some of his own licks in...but largely one-way traffic.

Both sitting down hard on their shots. Leatherwood still in there solely because he knows how to ride with punches. The second M'Billi catches him with something big on the button I think we're seeing him unconscious.

 

M'Billi stretched Leatherwood's neck (like a defeated rock 'em sock 'em robot in the original 80's game) with a brutal uppercut.

Damn, maybe I undersold Leatherwood's toughness. He survived the second round despite getting absolutely bombarded for the last minute of it.

40-36 M'Billi, but Leatherwood is defending himself intelligently, recovering well every time he is hurt by a bomb, and lying on the ropes coiled and ready with land-mine uppercuts as M'Billi walks in.
