They were gonna give him $20 000 or less for his debut... I don't think He's signed with EliteXC yet though...
While I believe 150,000 is way too much for a fighter of Soku's ilk (he has two great upsets but hasn't had any longevity yet), I think the UFC lowballed him hardcore. I can't blame Soku for taking the big payday and running. I sure would have. It is disapointing though. The UFC's 205 division is stacked right now. There's: Liddell, Jackson, Hendo, Shogun all at the top. Some mid-tier names like Tito. Then there's the TUFers like Griffin, Evans, Bonnar and Jardine. Plus, Bisbing and Hamill up and coming. Then throw in the upstarts like Houston Alexander and even a guy like Lambert coming off a big win over Babalu. That division is just jam packed, and it would have been awesome to have seen Soku in the mix.
I like it and wish him well, I hope this happens alot. Drives the fighters pay up to what it should be.
