What risk? Sams 39 and fading. He has no title. He's beaten sub-par fighters of late. He is blest that Ray wheatly is the head of the IBF . He needs this type of payday before the doors shut.

The risk of not getting his world title shot when he is the mandatory challenger should he lose to Sturm.

Wouldnt call that a risk. Geale wouldnt have offered him as much as sturm is offering because he isnt worth it. Mandatory yes, ticket seller no. Ugly fight at that.

Soliman wins comfortably over sturm, unlike the very questionable split decision Geale got!

TEAMPRETTYBOY.ON AN OTHER FORUM IS SAYING,THE FIGHT IS ON THE 1st OF FEB,.

The IBF world middleweight title eliminator between Felix Sturm and Sam Soliman titled “Hard Way Back” and originally scheduled for February 2nd 2013 will instead happen one day earlier, on Friday, February 1st 2013, at the ISS Dome in Dusseldorf, Germany.

I agree with the above, but my original post alluded to the financial reward of the Sturm fight being significant enough to forego a guaranteed opportunity of a world title fight, which is pretty much the same thing you've written.

In any case, for the boxing fan, I think this new arrangement of Soliman having to fight Sturm in order to fight for the IBF title pleases most.

Fail to understand why so called “Eliminator” when according to current IBF ratings Soliman is #1, #2 Not rated & Sturm is #3 ??
The whole thing is on the nose...not to mention Sturm is supposedly the promoter.

Great results! Geale mundine was pretty average but Soliman coming back after being dropped in rd2 to win unanimously was a great fight. Geale vs Soliman will be high pace with a hell of a lot of punches thrown
