Zuniga started at 154. He peaked at 160 even though he did win the IBO title at 168.

    Round 9

Zuniga is throwing several jabs at a time, pestering Cloud and bobbing arrhythmically. Cloud just walks forward lazily and pumps out a jab or two at a time, clearly looking to time one big right hand. Nice left hook by Zuniga as he turns Cloud! Zuniga is proving to be a bit tricky. Cloud catches him with a couple of hard rights this round, but Zuniga stands up to them and even responds with another good hook.

    10-9 Zuniga

A shop worn 175 pound Zuniga just lasted at least one more round with Cloud than a peak 160 Zuniga lasted with Pavlik. That can't be good news if you're Cloud!

    Round 10

Zuniga leads with jabs and hooks while kicking his legs out to the side - like a galloping crab - to keep Cloud spinning. Cloud tries to shorten the distance with some diagonal steps and jab his way into range but Zuniga hurls a blanket on him, tying him up and pushing his arms down. Zuniga has a triple jab and follow-up overhand right slipped but pushes a hook through. CLOUD lands big with a long reaching right cross on the bottom of the chin, hurts Zuniga. Cloud peppers him with hooks for the final 10 seconds, stealing what was going to be another giveaway round.

    Round 11

Cloud smells blood, and goes right after Zuniga. This proves to be all bark (literally) and no bite as Cloud gives up when Zuniga's awkward fish-out-of-water flopping keeps Cloud's knuckles off of him. Zuniga now takes advantage again of the lulls by snaking in long lunging jabs and uppercuts from the outside, while cricking his neck and bending his upper body to avoid getting caught. Cloud just invites Zuniga in with his low workrate, and once there Zuniga is glad to tie him up and push down on his arms before scooting out and flicking out punches.

Good action in the 11th. Zuniga probably won the round. Zuniga needs to go for the KO in the last round.

I mean...Cloud has landed the better punches in every round. He just did so damn little in so many of them that it could be close enough that this 12th really matters (Zuniga could get a draw, IMO).

Actually, n/m - with the knockdown in round 5, the 12th should be academic. Cloud had six clear rounds.

He's let it become a closer win than it had to be.

    Round 12

Zuniga is taking big swipes with his left hook as Cloud easily ducks and circles. They exchange jabs, both moving. Zuniga DOWN off a short right hand! He is on his butt and looking dazed. He pushes himself up at the count of seven but is there for the taking. Cloud comes in with a hard flurry as Zuniga bends his spine and tucks his head almost into his crotch. Cloud slows down and follows Zuniga across the ring. Cloud throws a few hard right hands as he walks after Zuniga but shows very little urgency.

    10-8 Cloud

He pissed away more than two rounds with his slacker attitude. :bart

Well -- it's true! Zuniga's last really good performance was Oganov at 168, and his best performances were Zertuche and Pavlik at 160. A LHW with a ****ing world title should have had Z man out of there in 5 or less.

I noticed he slows his activity down in some parts of his fights. There were rounds against Johnson where he just did very little and let johnson steal them with workrate. When he does open up he can be very impressive but he only does it for short burst. His habit of falling asleep for stretches of a fight is his main weakness and it could lead to him losing winnable fights.

...especially one billed as a KO artist. :nod

As a Tavoris Cloud fan, this performance was disappointing and a little embarrassing.
