What the **** are you talking about? If you knew anything about boxing you would know that Solis was a very succesful amateur heavyweight who beat David Haye, amateur heavyweight is equivalent to proffesional cruiserweight. We are not talking about Solis going to cruiserweight now, we are talking about if Solis stayed at that weight.
Read the thread before you post dumb comments, Solis was a very succesful amateur heavyweight which is equivalent to proffesional cruiserweight, we are not talking about Solis suddenly dropping down to cruiserweight right now, we are talking about if he stayed at that weight.
Solis would toy with everyone at cruiserweight, because he would not be fat disgrace if he was in that division, his talent is unlimited but so is his fat.
Cruiser!? Wouldn't he have to lose like 50 lbs? . Solis is a fat joke with horrible punch resistance :deal
Read the previous posts before you comment and watch the video in the OP, we are talking about if Solis stayed at that weight.
Okay let me make it simple.. An under 200 lbs Solis is a mythical creature that will never exist. What about a 175 lbs Valuev?
Thats funny because he did exist and he won an olympic gold medal and two world amateur championships at under 200lbs, funny that you say this on a boxing forum where people compare fighters from different era's who could have never fought. Nobody is saying Solis could make cruiserweight now, but he was fantastic at that weight when he was an amateur, and that is what we are talking about.
Chagaev, Pulev, Povetkin, Haye, and even Wladimir also fought at heavyweight as amateurs. Actually Solis' most impressive performance at that 2001 World's was a win over Sultan Ibragimov. Arreola was a freaking light heavyweight. So all of these guys could have fought their entire career at cruiser? Haye and Arreola are the most realistic potential cruisers out of the bunch--the rest would struggle hard to make 200. Not to say that Solis 'couldn't' make cruiser...probably he could if he went vegan and got slim. But I'll bet it was never seriously considered.
Bernard Hopkins lives a very disciplined lifestyle 24-7 365 days a year. Maintains in tip top condition, eats well, rests well..... Solis is no where near that
Haye fought most of his professional career at cruiserweight and dominated, none of the other fighters you mentioned even medalled at the olympics or world amateur championships at Heavyweight, they were much better at super-heavy. I made this thread because Solis was specifically very impressive at heavyweight as an amateur, bare in mind this is a "What if" thread, nothing more.
Chagaev and Ibragimov were 2 of the best amateur heavyweights of their era. Pulev is about the same age as Solis and fought Solis at the highest level as a heavyweight (201 lbs) in 03-04. I agree it's an interesting "what if" but Solis' would have had to be incredibly disciplined to make cruiser as a pro. If you look at that 2001 fight you can see Solis' size advantage over Haye (granted Haye was very young at the time). And don't forget that Solis dominated the amateur super heavyweight scene in 2005-06. Ulimately what ruined Solis' career was not being in shape as a heavyweight, rather than needing to make cruiser in order to stay fit.
