I cannot believe nobody has posted a thread about the result of Odlanier Solis most recent fight today. I cannot believe he went the distance with this bum, I expected first round KO. Damn when you expect it it dont come and then Juanma and the Punisher produce surprise 1 round wins, What a day !!!!!!!:nut

Solis is far from a bum. I just hope he can take the spare tire off and make his conditioning a higher priority.

Him being leaner would not only help his physical conditioning for his actual fights, it'd also make him a bit more marketable, cause he'd then look the part.

A soft, pudgy, up and coming heavyweight is going to get less fans excited about his potential.

He is no hype job. He has good skills but his commitment to stay in great shape is questionable and might cost him as he moves up.

Solis just went the distance with a guy who has never beaten anyone with a winning record. Most all of Duiven's wins have come against cans who never won a fight before, including his own father No ****, look it up.

Even out of shape Heavyweight prospects should finish complete gimme's like this one. This was his 10th fight and he's still showing up around 250. Forget about an "in shape, focused" Solis, it ain't happening.

Many fighters are going the distance now. When Solis first started his career, people were talking like he had Tyson power. His KO % has dropped to 60%.

He is a talented fighter (although overweight), but his power was over-rated.

I wonder if Mazakin took a dive, it honestly didn't look like much. We all now realize how much of a crook Solis's prometer is, ringing the bell to save a fighter.

I think we talked about this before, but that Mazakin fight...

I do not play the fixed fight card much, but there just was no punch there that did any real damage. And Mazakin popped right up, shook hands and left.

After that, we have seen nothing but Solis looking unimpressive and going the distance against underwhelming competition like Julius Long and this guy. Against Colliander, he already started with the excuses fro his crappy performances, in that fight crying about his knees.

Here is a tip- loose weight and the knee problems will go right away.

I go with the hype job hypothesis. Sure, he is a great amatuer, and we all know that his problem is his weight. Problem is, weight problems do no reverse themselves. It gets harder to take the weight of as you get older, and as we have seen with guys from Jim Jeffries to roy Jones, to Anonio Tarver to Chris Byrd, taking off massive amounts of weight takes speed, stamina and power with it.

Solis is not going to win an ABC belt. There are now lots of prospects out there from David Haye to Povetikin, to dimentrenko to Boytsov, some pretty good champs, and a couple of guys waiting in the wings for a second chance like Sultan and Valuev. These guys may not have the talent of Solis, but at least they do their road work.

Yeah, I don't beleive in many fixed fights. But if there was ever one, that was probably it, Solis vs Mazakin. Minus that fight, his KO% is 50%.

i don't get it. most of the shorter heavy's come in fat, thinking i suppose that the extra weight will help against bigger guys. i think tyson (and frazier) show what you need to do if you're smaller -- come in fit and use speed and agression to beat legit bigger guys. this guy solis won't amount to much at the top level unless he makes some serious changes or drops to cruiser.

if he steps up his ko ratio wil drop under 50%, not really intimidating...
