They should not face each other until they establish themselves in the heavies. Late 09 would be superb assuming all goes well for both. Be a big grudge match.

Haye is my boy, but I like Solis.

Solis seems to have gone back since him amateur days, he's just too big to do what he used to do. Haye however has improved significantly in the last 2 years. He's a completely different fighter. Watch the Solis / Haye fight and any recent Solis or Haye fight and it's clear that the 1st fight should not be in our thoughts too much when we think about a rematch.

    Of course ad82.

The ams and the pro's are completely different sports, they really are.

It gives you only 10% insight into how a pro fight would go.

    Touche'.

I think Alex will do ok, but he is no saviour of the division.

But then people can say the same thing about Haye as they see flaws I don't think will eb an issue.

People say the same thing about Solis and how he won't cope.

To be honest, I'm just appreciative of the fact we have 3 new cats in the division who hypothetically can do great things up there.

For that people should stop bitching about any of them, and lets wait see what happens. One things for sure it will be more enthralling than the last 3 years up in the big league.:good

You're exaggerating a bit TOO much.

I think Alex's style is good for the pro's but I just don't believe he's good enough to make it to the very top. He may wear a belt at one stage in his carear but he'll not beat Wlad.

As for Haye / Solis, my point really is that Haye has improved so much since then, especially in the last 5 fights. It's hugely noticeable. Solis is good but I don't believe he has improved enouugh since that amateur fight with Haye.

Yes but haye was an average amateur (so a lot do develop).
Solis was a top-notch amateur fighter who was (and still is) very well schooled.

Logical that Haye has developed more, there were a lot of things he needed to develop.

Not to take anything away from Haye btw.

Not at all, not when it comes to two elite guys fighting in the pros who fought in the ams.

Haye was rather better than an average amateur, but he went pro instead of waiting for the Olympics, whilst Solis was on for a permanent Cuban amateur career until Sauerland(?) lured him away. It makes sense that he achieved more there, and that he was deeper in the groove of an amateur style, because he was amateur for longer, and seemed to be aiming to be always an amateur. A fighter with concrete pro ambitions and prospects, such as Haye, wasn't going to be as interested in refining his style for the Olympic judges: it wasn't his high ambition.

For the record, it might be a good fight, but Haye would win!

So Haye achieved the same as/more than Solis??

Don't worry about me following the amateur/Olympic boxing scene.

''The ams and the pro's are completely different sports, they really are.

Judging on this it seems more like you're comparing chess with swimming.

Point is, that of course it's a different ballgame. But the things you state above are VERY exaggerating.

First of all the ''10%'' you mention is just your opinion and a wild/rough guess. Nothing scientifically proven.

Let's elaborate on the actual differences:

Now if a fighter has great footwork in the ams, it will be a big advantage in the pro's. Same counts for (a.o.) technique, speed, agility, reflexes, counter-punch ability.

What you need less in the ams (because it's ''only'' 4x2 min and a different scoring system) are power, endurance, heart of a lion (12 round war/ knocked down), etc.

So again, yes, there are differences, but we are still talking boxing here. You know, the sport where you supposed to hit eachother and prevent the other from hitting you.

    Peace
