He has faced mediocre opposition. The Klits will destroy him, no doubt. Didnt see the fight, but, from watching his other fights, the guy is slow as molasses on his feet. Yeah, hes got quick hands. But, that wont work against a guy who is athletic as Vitali. Solis lacks Vitalis professionalism and drive. If Solis comes in 20 lbs lighter, it doesn't garantee a win against a guy who has a size advantage, athleticism, and ring smarts over him. I just don't think Solis can deal with Vitali's superior boxing skills. That will be the main problem.

Solis was slow, sloppy, showed no technical skills, no power, limited stamina, and looked like he didn't want to be there.

Whatever this guy used to be is long behind him. Stop talking about what he used to do in the ring; he has no desire to be that guy again. A pedigree means nothing when the fighter no longer wants to fight.

Vitali is going to wreck this guy.

Wow, after reading all the negative posts I expected something terrible to watch, but I saw a completely different fight from the 'worst of 2010'. Solis controlled the whole match and was able to sneak a lot of head-snapping shots, many counters, several hurtful punches. He hurt Austin in the 3rd, 5th and 10th and I thought Ray's gonna get counted out after that very accurate jab right on the button. In R10 Austin was very badly hurt and used every last bit of energy to tie Solis up, almost pushing both out of the ring - he survived the round then got himself disqualifield and saved from the KO. I don't think he knew where he was, let alone heard the bell, but that's no excuse, the DQ was legit. I only gave Austin the 6th as Solis looked a bit punched out there, but then got back to his boxing.

All in all he averaged 43 punches per round landing 40% of them and got hit only by 10%. He sure is overweight and sloppy and needs to get down at least to 245 (won't happen it seems), and yes, he doesn't stand much chance vs either Klitschko - but then again, who does? He remains one of the best prospects out there with the same notes, and it seems he'll never get any props as the fat he carries puts fans into critical mode, which is understandable. We want in shape heavies, but Solis is no Arreola.

The fact that he went 10 rounds with an awful fighter like Ray Austin is the problem. Solis has a good left hook to the head and that is about it.

At 6'1" he is not going to be able to hit Vitali with anything significant because he could not even get inside on slow and mediocre Ray Austin.

I agree, as Wlad has more one punch power. Austin hit Solis with a lot of shots that had absolutely nothing on them. Austin, as slow as he was last night, was also able to get out of the way and make Solis miss badly many times. Solis is lucky it wasn't Wlad (or Vitali) hitting him last night.

Just caught the 5th rd knockdown of Austin. That **** was horrible. Solis is dead man walking if he ever enters the ring vs. Vitali. But this is something most people knew before this fight anyway. Secondly the Klitschko's don't cover up and continue to get hit, like Austin did. They'll clinch or back up using their reach to keep you at bay. I can already see the over hand right from Vitali crushing Solis's fat face.

Solis does have some skill but his weight is really hurting him. His movement and stamina are negatively affected by his extra weight. He needs to come in about 20 pounds lighter to be at his most effective. A 240 pound Solis has a small chance with Vitali but a 260+ Solis has almost no chance.

Hype job. Klitschko haters should be grateful that at least there is someone to beat these chumps down

wow. yes . solis is slow. yes his stamina and weight can be worked on but that hasnt hurt him. he didnt need to knock out austin because he had no need. he was comfortably winning the fight. if it went the distance he wouldve won. he is just a smart, calm fighter who doesnt try to knock the guy out if hes winning so bad...
